Not usual Ikea qualityAnonymous reviewerNot great to ssemble, the back panel being the obviuous difficulty as with other reviews. The main problem with mine was the cam fixings, three failed as I was tightening them. I purchased metal versions to replace them. Really not good enough for the scale of the cabinet and putting total reliance on them with no accompanying dowels is a mistake. Very disappointed in Ikea this time.2
All chips and scrapes Anonymous reviewerHalf of the peices for this had chips, gouges and scrapes so it looks bad. Ok to assemble. 2
Brilliant Unit Anonymous reviewerIgnore all the negative reviews of this, it is brilliant. The backboard is no different from the wardrobes, only it doesn’t tack in so it takes 2 people to slide it in easily but it’s really not difficult. The instructions are a piece of cake for anyone with half a brain cell. I was quite apprehensive ordering this based on some of the reviews and when we got it up I could not understand the rating this has at all. 5
Sturdy, beautiful, easy assembleAnonymous reviewerI dont get the negative reviews, unless they received manufactury faulthy items.. Instructions very clear, take your time to ready through and make sure you understand and get familiar with all, trying to figure it out while youre trying to put things together might be difficult. Besta itself is very sturdy, stylish and very well made. Very easy to put together, looks amazing in our living room, 1 person job realy. For the doors you need another pair of hands, you realy need to hold them straight and in place before putting screws in. Hinges are fully adjustable so once doors are on they will look funny, you adjust the hinges to where you want them and voila job done x5
Terrible, avoid!Anonymous reviewerI’ve built a lot of flat pack, the “sliding” on of the back panel is near on impossible. The build quality is poor, not to Ikea standards.
You’ll spend a couple of hours trying to slide ok the rear panel which will likely result in damage and then the whole thing bows so the panel pops out in the middle.1
Avoid like the plagueAnonymous reviewerPlease don't waste the time and effort buying this unit.
You cannot mix and match ie. It has to either be all doors or all shelves.
Even then there are gaps all over the place.
There were missing holes in the shelve fronts so had to drill extra.
There are gaps in the drawers of about 2-3cm so you can see what is being stored.
I would try and get a refund but the thing is up now but it is horrifically poor quality and certainly NOT cheap.
Should be prosecuted under the trade descriptions act.
Went back to store to complain and was told to pay for someone to install it.
So did this and was told by the carpenter the product would make a good fire.
Livid. 1
No instructions for this formatAnonymous reviewerLike other reviewers, the finished product looks good. Getting there is a whole other thing.
I get where IKEA is going with this modular approach giving more options from similar components. Unfortunately, the instructions do not reflect the varying setups it’s selling on the website.
The frame instructions do not flag to check if you’re opting for raised legs vs. standard ones. I did the backboard in the complete opposite way to the instructions to avoid obvious flexing difficulties. There is no explanation of pros/cons on the shelf supports you screw in vs. the ones that come with the shelves. There’s also no guide on the shelf layout.
Now none of these can’t be worked out. But this isn’t the IKEA I bet most people are used to. 2
Don't botherAnonymous reviewerThe manufacturing of this design is just not right. The whole frame bows in the middle and is literally held together by the shelves. I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to get the backboard to fit in place; but it doesn't.
To make the unit you have to buy 2 of a smaller unit, and both have the same problem.
It's standing so it'll do, but I'll be adding wood and screws to the frame to strengthen it because I've spent too much time on them to have to will to send them back. Not worth the money.
Go for the Billy instead, it's better quality.2
Very poor assemblyAnonymous reviewerI have built much IKEA product over the years and whoever designed this needs sacking! The tall cabinets have long backs that need to be inserted into grooves which is a nigh on impossible task as they keep falling out over the length. This is compounded by the fact that they are supplied folded in two so have no rigidity when trying to insert them. I have an engineering background so have found a way using support poles and sticky tape to assist inserting them but to the average layman this is beyond their scope. To then add insult to injury you have to attach the bottom without the back falling out. This, coupled with the flimsy plastic screw clamps (Should be metal) make for a poor piece of design as the furniture itself is good. Why not have the traditional nailed back pieces? For this reason it is hard to recommend this.1
Very difficult to assembleAnonymous reviewerAfter waiting 4 weeks for delivery I was looking forward to assembling my units. I never usually have a problem but these are impossible to construct if you follow the instructions. I couldn't find a way of contacting IKEA for advice so had to hire a professional to help. He fortunately found another way to assemble. You will need at least 2 people and a lot of space. The final product does look great though.3
Very good storageAnonymous reviewerVery good double storage. Roomy cupboards and deep display shelves. Construction was slightly tricky as it requires three people to easily put it together. There are slightly visible seams down the back panels, however from a few feet away it's not too bad. Some of the holes for the shelf pins are not drilled very well as they don't actually go in. As a whole the unit is very nice looking and functional.5
