I have 7 years old medium firm Hamarvik that it’s still good and wanted something of similar firmness to the spare room that will be baby nursery room.
I just slept one night on my new Valevag firm - but it doesn’t feel like firm mattress.
I got back to read now all the reviews and it seems it’s not only my feeling.
I’ll give it a few weeks to see if it improves, but already so disappointed with this purchase as it’s a first time I spent a little bit more for mattress than the cheapest.
The make of the mattress and quality seems similar to anything else that IKEA sells, so no complaints there.2

Excellent value for money.Anonymous revieweri chose this mattress as it did well in the Which? review and I had slept on the predecessor of the Valevag. I was not disappointed. You have to be patient as it takes a few days for the chemical smell to disappear, but vacuuming the mattress, as suggested, does help. The quality of the mattress is really good for the money. It is firmer than I was expecting, but not unpleasantly so. It was very handy to be able to order the mattress and collect it from a nearby Tesco carpark at no charge.5

The right mattress at last!Anonymous reviewerThird time lucky, after trying 2 other, much more expensive, ones. We needed a mattress, as, after 15 years, our old one had two large hollows and was in bad condition. My husband tosses about restlessly so had to have a mattress which minimises movement and is not too soft. So far, this mattress fits the bill and, more importantly, has been accepted by my husband! It is quite firm, but not overly so, and we both find it very comfortable. You can't turn it over though, so I hope it will last!4
Disappointed 😒Anonymous reviewerI bought this mattress for the 1st time from IKEA, having confidence that IKEA provides a quality mattress, but this mattress gave me a backache. It's not only me, but my husband also feels restless as it sinks in the middle. We bought it in September 2024 and kept waiting to review if it could be something that would take us some time to get used to. But no change, I wake up like a tired person after struggling for the whole night where and how I should take a posture to get adjusted. I'm absolutely disappointed 😞 Now I feel a big hassle to pick this mattress up and take it back to the store as now it's not rolled and packed and can't be adjusted in a car. I don't know what to do with this now 😒1

The only need for improvement I can offer is the positioning and orientation of the handles. It would be better if they were placed horizontally and closer to the corners, instead of the current placement.4
