Today marks the first anniversary of IKEA Aintree Plan & Order Point, following a year of success for IKEA UK’s first smaller format store, dedicated to kitchen and bedroom planning.

In the first year alone, the store’s team of seven planning specialists have carried out over 600 free appointments, designed to find the best solution for customers’ bespoke needs.

As well as healthy footfall, the Aintree Plan & Order Point has directly improved the homes of hundreds of surrounding residents, with almost 500 kitchens and bedroom storage solutions being fitted, as a result of free design meetings with Aintree’s cost-conscious planning experts.

A modern kitchen/dining setup

The opening of the Liverpool-based Plan & Order Point offered customers a specialist space dedicated to kitchen and bedroom planning, to visit for home furnishing advice and expertise to help design their ideal space.

The response to the opening has been enthusiastic, with customers quickly connecting with the different offerings from the local IKEA Warrington store they’ll likely recognise.

One customer commended the quality and professionalism of the service, stating their experience was “extremely good” and that they “love that IKEA is more accessible in Liverpool”. Jacob H, Google Reviews, January 2023

Another praised how an IKEA planning specialist “fine-tuned our ideas and came up with a great plan.” Angie W, Google Reviews, April 2023

Connecting with the community has always been IKEA’s ambition when opening Aintree. The store was carefully designed based on insights into how customers in Merseyside want their dream kitchens brought to life. In its first year, there have been a number of standout ranges for customers here:

A small blue colour shaker style kitchen
AXSTAD blue was most popular with shoppers.
SIBBARP L shaped white kitchen
VOXTORP white is another standout kitchen range from the year
PAX 4-doors wardrobe with shelf in between 2 door wardrobe
IKEA’s iconic PAX solutions proved a popular purchase among hundreds in the Merseyside area
As the first of its kind, the opening of the Aintree Plan & Order Point marked a moment of evolution for IKEA in the North West of England, and the UK. It was the first of three Plan & Order Points to open in the region in the last twelve months, with Stockport opening in March, and Preston opening in July, all big moments for us that have increased accessibility to our services, giving options for customers to meet us however they want. We’re excited to be opening more Plan & Order Points in 2024

I am delighted that the first year of IKEA’s Aintree Plan and Order Point has been a resounding success. In Sefton we work extremely hard to promote, create and secure new job opportunities for our residents, while also bringing quality private sector businesses to the borough, which have a hugely positive impact on our communities. The IKEA Aintree Plan and Order Point has quickly become an important asset to the area, and I am confident it will continue to grow in popularity.

How it Works

Appointments to consult with one of IKEA’s interior designers must be made in advance via the online booking system.

Once the booking is confirmed, the customer will receive a message to alert them to anything they may need to bring with them to the appointment such as photographs, measurements, etc. What is needed will depend on the service chosen e.g., kitchen, living room, bedroom, or wardrobe.

At the consultation, the customer and the designer will work together to design an interior plan perfect for the customer’s needs and lifestyle. This may take up to two consultations before a plan is finalised, with each consultation being free of charge. The designers will use 3D design technology to give customers a real feel for what their design will look like, with the 3D images being accessible to the customer for up to five days after the consultation.

Once the interior plans have been agreed, IKEA also offers an assembly and installation service.
