What is included in the IKEA kitchen installation service?

The IKEA kitchen installation service includes full cabinet assembly, worktop fitting, appliance and sink installation, plus lighting and finishing touches for a complete setup.

The service includes the following:
  • Cabinets & structure
    • Installation, fitting, and securing of all IKEA cabinets.
    • Fitting and securing of all knobs, handles, doors, drawers, rails, filler pieces, plinths, decoration strips, and cornices.
  • Worktops
    • Cutting and fitting of IKEA laminate and custom-made worktops (stone, quartz, acrylic, and ceramic worktops are not included in the service as these are installed by a separate specialist partner, coordinated as part of your worktop order).
    • Creating cut-outs for hobs and sinks.
  • Appliances, sinks & taps
    • Installation of IKEA-supplied appliances (electrical and gas connections are not included).
    • Installation of IKEA-supplied sinks and taps.
    • Connection of the sink's waste trap to existing plumbing, provided it is within 1 metre.
  • Lighting & finishing
    • Mounting of IKEA cabinet lighting, including cord management (for plug-in models only).
    • Sealing of all joints and cut-outs.
  • Clean-up
After installation, the installer will tidy up and remove packaging/waste if you have opted for the waste disposal service.

Are there also activities that are not part of the standard service package?
Yes, these include but are not limited to the following list of activities.
  • Preparation & demolition work:
    • Measuring or planning your kitchen (these are separate IKEA services).
    • Removing and disposing of your old kitchen. Speak to your kitchen specialist if you would like support with this process.
    • Any structural work, such as moving walls, windows, or doorways.
  • Utility connections
    • Electrical work: This includes creating new sockets, hardwiring appliances, or any work on your fuse board. This must be performed by a qualified electrician.
    • Gas work: Any connection or disconnection of gas appliances must be performed by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
    • Plumbing work: Any work beyond connecting the sink trap to existing, suitable plumbing within 1 metre is excluded. This includes moving pipes or installing new water lines.
  • Decorative & custom work
    • Tiling, plastering, painting, or flooring.
    • Installation of non-IKEA-supplied appliances.
    • Any custom modification of IKEA cabinets or additional custom joinery.
  • Service limitations
    • The service is not available for installations of fewer than 5 cabinets.
    • The service does not cover the sole installation of a worktop, sink, or appliance.
If supplementary work is required, the installer may be able to provide a separate quote to perform these tasks. This would be a private agreement between you and the installer, and IKEA is not liable for this work.
