Episode 3
Pete and Louise, met seven years ago and have two daughters. They currently have no work zones at home, Pete works from the kitchen whilst Louise works from her bed. Clothes and laundry is the biggest battle. The conservatory is an underused space, and they have a poorly lit living room.
Living room
Before
Pete and Louise have both been working from home and there was a lack of separation between work and play space, with Pete working for long hours at the dining table and Louise from the bedroom. There was also a need for toy storage, a typical issue for a family with a young child. The living room was under used, mostly used for laundry and ironing. The large sofa took almost half of the floor space, which the family rarely used at the same time and an unused electric fire, took up wall space.
After
BESTÅ storage is used as a smart solution for laundry and ironing storage as well as toy storage, hiding any clutter out of sight. A new study area is created for Pete in the living room, calm and comfortable, to support with long hours working from home. A clever solution using a SANDVEDEL roller blind, hides away the work-station after hours. The seating furniture is more suitable for the needs of the family, with a coffee table functional for family board games together. The colours and materials used helps the room to feel more warm, relaxing and inviting.
Conservatory
After
The conservatory is transformed into a multi-functional space, with a workspace for Louise and plenty of toy storage and play solutions. The painted IVAR cabinets are joyful, whilst also creating plenty of functional storage within the space. Low pile rugs help to add warmth to the space and create a comfortable floor space for play. A new sofa bed creates space for extra guests. The colour scheme used is a hybrid of feeling playful, whilst also grown up, helping to join the three functions together cohesively.
Bedroom
After
Swapping the large bed for a HEMNES day bed helps to create a space that is multifunctional and allows space for more storage and a desk suitable for studying. A neutral colour palette makes the room feel more cosy, light and creates style and personality in the space. This helps to create a private sanctuary within the home, for sleeping, studying and socialising.
