Favourite games with an extra soft landing

Here’s a fluffy, soft rug that can create both a physical play zone and a chill-out area anywhere in the home. With outdoor play written into its DNA, the new STÄPPSPARV rug is ready for energy and movement as well as more quiet moments. That might mean doing a round of hopscotch or two to take a break from difficult homework tasks, or playing a quiet board game on the floor before bed.

It’s also a great way to encourage physical play if kids can’t get outside as movement-based games like hopscotch can help to develop balance and coordination.

A handwoven jute rug with a lot of heart

In partnership with the social business Karupannya, this rug was designed to help create work for people living on the riverbanks of Bangladesh, a region heavily affected by global warming. The rug is handwoven from undyed jute and cotton with details in coloured wool, making it both decorative and durable.

Rug life: choosing the right rug for your room

A rug is the perfect way to add colour, texture and cosiness to a room. It can even help to muffle noise! While it’s true that modern rugs are designed to add beauty and warmth to a room, they’re also used as a place to sit and relax, particularly in homes that have less space. So, if you’re in need of a new rug for your home, make sure you consider how you use your room before you start your search.

The ‘second sofa’

Rather than gathering around the TV, more and more families are doing several activities at once in the living room – which often sees the rug functioning as an alternative to the sofa. If this sounds familiar, comfort should be a major factor when making your choice.

The look and feel of the rug should also be key. As with a sofa, choose a style that complements your other furnishings – for instance, if your walls are a neutral shade, a bright rug can add an accent of colour and individuality. Remember, if you live in a busy household, opt for a rug that can also handle a fair amount of wear and tear.

A rug for every room

Your rug should be the first thing you sink your toes into after stepping out of bed. So, when choosing a new rug for your bedroom, you want it to feel soft and comfortable underfoot. Go for calming colours rather than bold shades to create a soothing vibe.

For children’s bedrooms, a flat-woven, cotton rug is the best option given its durability and the fact that it’s easy to clean. Go for a rug with Latex backing – this will ensure it doesn’t move around when your little ones are playing.

The same goes for wet areas, such as kitchens or bathrooms. A rug with Latex will prevent slipping while the cotton will feel soft underfoot after a shower. Ready to invest in a new rug? Check out our rugs for sale and create a feeling of cosiness throughout your home.
