Firewood! Extremely bad quality and designCheyeneThe screws/hardware are cheap aluminum and cannot be used as the heads bend and strip upon installation attempts. We replaced the screws with proper quality. Should have returned but live too far from a store. The strap system slides to the outer edges, leaving a sink hole in the center of the bed. This sliding and sink hole repeats continuously. Removed for disposal within a few weeks of use.
Way Easier than AnticipatedShelleyAfter reading the hundreds of reviews that talk about how this is nearly impossible to put together, we began assembly fully anticipating giving up halfway through the process. I really only bought it because of the handful of reviews that talked about it being such an upgrade from the lower priced one. If you follow the directions specifically, it is not hard at all. More challenging than the bed? Yes. But overall, we only had one screw that we had issue with, and it was nearly all the way in before it stripped. Not enough to keep it from sitting in the bed. Not tightening down the screws in step two is imperative. It also helps to tighten down all six screws at the same rate. By that I mean, tighten down the first two about four rotations, then go to the other end and tighten those about four rotations, then come to the middle and do those about four rotations, then go back to the first two and do it again. My teenager nearly put together the second one by himself.

Cumbersome ComfortShazilThese slats were a HUGE upgrade on Luroy - however, it took FOREVER to put together. The screws were really tight, coupled with a small allen wrench made it very hard work. It took almost 3 hours to complete, save yourself the trouble and get task rabbit.
You Will Need Emotional SupportOzMake sure that if you choose to embark on the absolutely horrible, god-awful, headache-inducing journey that is assembling these bed slats you have a strong support system around you. Seriously, these will test you. And honestly, for the price I payed, I feel that is absolutely inexcusable.
I purchased these slats to use with the slattum bed frame… which it apparently does not fit. I guess it’s my bad for not ensuring that, but I feel like some sort of note could be made on their product listings for compatibility. I was led to believe that these slats were sort of just an “upgrade” I guess. So to fix this. I trimmed some wood off the ends before assembly. This was the easiest part of the
All in all a horrible building experience. Seems like it will be relatively comfortable, but for $120 I would expect the assembly to be a little less fraught. I recommend ikea include local crisis hotline numbers with this product if they intend to continue selling it as-is.

Worst assembly experience ever. Do not buy this.JasonI have assembled a LOT of IKEA furniture in my life and I've never had an experience like this. There are these very long screws with a very small Allen wrench head. The metal is so soft that one slip of the wrench and they're stripped. And they need to go all the way to flush to assemble the slats into the bed frame. I ended up having to literally saw six of the screw heads off because they stripped with a centimeter or more to go. Why those screws aren't regular screwdriver heads I don't know, but what a nightmare.
Horrible thing to build. MattWas giving an Allen wrench that was too big to the screws. Stripped some of them. If you’re going to charge people $120 something for bed slats make sure all the tools given work and fit properly.
What’s with the poor screws?ChristopherJust finished assembling the frames so I can’t speak about comfort, but the screws stripped SO easily! I ended up swapping them all out for flush decking screws. The included Allen wrench is SO tiny it hurts to use- you can’t get any torque with it.
Wood seems like good quality so I’m hopeful that this will be a comfortable choice
Great Slats, TERRIBLE ScrewsIkea SunnyThe finished product is sturdy, looks great, and works well with my Tonstad queen bed frame. Unfortunately, the assembly experience completely ruined it for us.
The screws are terrible. The hex sockets strip incredibly easily, even when using our own high-quality Allen wrench instead of the tiny tool that comes in the box. Several screws started stripping before they were fully tightened, turning a straightforward assembly into an exhausting process.
It took two adults over 2 hours to assemble a Queen-size frame, and we both ended up with blisters on our hands because of the constant struggle with the screws. This is not a tool issue—it is a screw quality/design issue. IKEA really needs to redesign these screws or use higher-quality hardware.
The bed itself deserves 5 stars, but the hardware and assembly experience bring it down to 3.
A nightmare to deal withVictoriaThe allen screws strip very easily. I’ve never had to abort an assembly until this dang slat set. The allen wrench/hex key provided was also poorly constructed.
Nightmare to assembleChadI accidentally bought this version of a base for my Malm bed. I got the bed assembled and expected to just spend a few minutes unrolling some slats. Boy was I wrong! At that point, I decided to push through rather than dealing with 5:00 traffic for a return with the store closing at 6:00. Big mistake. So so tedious threading each slat through the strap. Couldn’t this step happen at the factory? Like others have commented, the hardware is particularly fragile - very easy to strip the screws, and it’s an odd hex fit on the screw head. I finally found a bit in my toolbox that was close enough and had best results going slow with a drill, though that wasn’t perfect. When I was halfway through the second frame, I used my sore fingers to consult IKEA service and ChatGPT - both said the straps are necessary. I really wanted to cut them.
Very good with a little room for improvementJasonI love this bed foundation. It's the 5th time I purchased it for different beds I've had in my house through the years. I've had different styles of mattresses over the years from temperpedic to hybrid and traditional spring beds. All of them have had an improvement in sleep quality using this foundation. I'm a big guy and even for me it gives the proper amount of support without being too hard or soft. The only places I would like to see improved on would maybe be a more grippy surface on the wooden slats as well as the side support rails. Any mattress I've used on this tend to slip in it from time to time causing me to have to re-center the mattress in top of it unless the side support on the bed frame sits very low in the frame. Also if the entire foundation isn't closed in on all side the frame itself slips as well. Other than that I have no complaints. I love the feel and it lasts forever.
again get bad experienceNayelliI don't know why the quality of these items has dropped; the slats sag very quickly and no longer provide the same support as before—they bend under the weight of the mattress and the person. It’s not pleasant at all.

Took 2 hours to assembleJonThe impression I got from the store was that you unroll this similar to other bed frames. Was not expecting to have to assemble 50 parts! Kind of a waste of time and poor value for the cost.
Horrible Allen wrench and screws.JasperI tried doing it carefully and ended up with 4 stripped still to be tightened screw's. you'd think it being over 100$ would mean quality hardware and screws for assembly.
