Plastic ends compressedRachel H.The gray pieces holding the ends of the wood slats compressed, so now the slats arent comfortable any more. Wish I could get new plastic pieces.1
Finally my bed will stay togetherMELYNDA P.I had the luroy on my Ikea queen bed and the slats were much too loose on the bed. They kept falling so my mattress would sag and then I'd have to move my mattress to fix it only for the issue to happen again the next day. I upgraded to the lonset and my life has definitely changed for the better. No loose slats falling in the night! It was a pain in the ass to put together though. The instructions were clear enough but its just an unpleasant and tedious process. I just wonder why the boards aren't already attached to the nylon strips like the luroy is.4
I love the products andFrantzciaI love the products and I will definitely purchase more In the future. The set up was easy.5
Upgraded slatstinaWe love this slat system, very sturdy and our mattress is extremely comfortable.5
Lonset supportJAYThis is an amazing improvement over the old loose boards that constantly shifted and had to be reset. The instructions were too vaque but there was a demo on the internet that made it easy to put the slats in place.5
Lonset make noiseAli S.I purchased a lonset slat base yesterday with new Malm queen bed, have 2 lonset frames the right side one make noise when i sit and standup the left side one have no issue. Anyone help4
Made a huge differenceDanielle P.These slats are incredible and greatly improved my sleeping even with my old mattress. Felt a huge improvement in my neck and back pain after just one night. Full size fits my Malm double bed frame perfectly. If you are buying larger than a twin, be sure to get all the boxes that come with your order. Full size is two boxes. My Malm had the old board slats so I removed the anchors and the new slat frames laid down perfectly in the bed, no sliding. When assembling, I recommend attaching the three bar pieces to one side first, then put the slats in the ribbon. The slats are color coded so match the colors to the rubber pieces. After filling the ribbon, attach slats to one side, then the other. As you add the second side, tighten screws as you add slats. When finished, if the slat frames don't fit in your bed frame, make sure all screws are tight. Takes a while to setup but totally worth it. A++ product. Thanks, IKEA!5
A little tedious, but overall great!HayleighThe slats were somewhat tedious to assemble. Having to slide each one through the two black nylon strips was the longest part. I did one alone and then my husband and I doubled teamed the second. Much faster and easier with two people. Overall, pleased with product.4
The best mattress base we have had!DENISWe bought this to replace an old mattress base on non IKEA bed and we were surprised about positive change with our sleep. It’s like having a new bad with the new mattress. And very easy to assemble. Great product!5
They are a pain toMaryThey are a pain to put together but they are definitely better than the basic slats!5
I started with Luroy whichHsueh-fangI started with Luroy which does not require assembling. However it made too much squeaky noise that I had to return. The Lonset requires lots of assembling but it works out well, no more noise. I love it5
Great slat setMARYGives just right under my mattress . Just what I needed.5

Great, quiet mattress supportShayana K.Really not sure what the handful of negative reviews here are going on about. It took less than an hour to assemble each half of the queen set -- tedious, yes, but not exceptional by IKEA standards. It fit perfectly in an Idanas frame. The support is outstanding. But the main thing for me is that the standard Ikea slats -- e.g. the Luroy -- have wood-on-wood interfaces between the slats and the bedframe that tend to squeak. You'll see lots of advice on the web about using parafin wax on those interfaces to keep the noise down. With this set, there's no place where wood is moving against wood -- as the wood slats bend under your shifting weight, they are pushing on the rubber holders. Two bits of advice on assembly: leave all 12 screws loose, not just six, and stick both sides of the slats thru the fabric before sticking either end thru the rubber holders. Also note it is 1 3/8" higher than the Luroy, so add ~1.5" of mattress height in placing the internal steel rails on the Idanas.5
Not That Bad: B MinusMegan F.So, initially I was torn on buying this item because of the negative reviews; however, I'm not sure what they were doing because my experience with this bed base was not that bad. Yes, the Lönset is tedious to set up, but there are quite a few tutorials on YouTube that help to simplify the experience. For me, the only time I really wanted to throw in the towel was with the four tension straps. They take forever!!! There WAS a moment when I thought this might not fit my malm bed, but I realized some of the screws were not tightened all the way. After fixing the screws, the Lönset fit my queen malm bed perfectly! This system does push your mattress up a bit high, but I kind of like the extra height. Last thing--this is such an upgrade from the original bed slats, no more sinking mattress or dip in the middle.4
No, No and No!Jeana P.I’m reading reviews about the assembly. I actually thought it was one of the easier items I have assembled from IKEA. This does NOT fit a queen bed!!!! It’s about a little over an inch too wide. Assembly was easy but time consuming and tedious. Took me about an hour for the entire thing. To not fit after that was very nerve racking. Now how do I take it back to the store and is it even worth it? Total IKEA fail.1

TediousBrendan M.After assembling a malm bed frame I was faced with this assembly- what a tedious and time consuming pain in the neck. Solid support but this item broke on buying anything from Ikea ever again.3
The Best choice for support with "memory foam" mattressesGloria P.I have bought both systems offered by Ikea. The "Lonset" system is far superior. Though following the instructions is critical to make putting it together less confusing. I found after laying out the different color slates, in their proper order, its best to add the straps before putting them into the end caps. Hopefully this slatted system will remain an option. The Luroy system doesn't have the same support or give & was noticeably less comfortable.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is layer-glued wood?

With layer-glued wood it’s possible to create flexible and extra strong constructions with curved shapes, like frames for armchairs. The secret is a technique where many layers of thin wood veneer are glued together and then pressed into the desired shape. We often use wood like birch, beech, ash and even bamboo – and strive to use the raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste. Just like solid wood, it has natural variations in structure and colour.
