Reviews

Good product for a daybedNancyGreat product for the price. It was easy to assemble.5
did not know it was trundle bedCamilaIt's got edges that stick up so you can't sit at the foot of the bed. It's a trundle bed and I wasn't aware of that. It should say somewhere on the tag "Trundle Bed."1
Day bed - expandable to king sizeHowardAssembly took quite an effort as the guide doesn't indicate the orientation and matching of the pieces. I had to disassembled and reassembled twice for certain parts. If there were labels on the pieces and arrows pointing to adjacent pieces , I wouldn't have made so much mistakes. 4

BedJaneVery good5
Exceptional quality SaraThis bed is made very well. The slats are REAL wood not cardboard like other places are selling. This bed is also heavy because of all the wood.5
Wonderful toddler bedSvetlanaWe’ve purchased this bed for our toddler. He is extremely happy with it and so are we! It is perfect for his size and fits extremely nicely in the room. Since it can be put in the corner it allows for way more playing space. The storage drawers are very convenient and useful for storing all the bedding and some toys. 5
Great product! Very functional for small spacesVictorLove it5
Teenage boys bed RustyBought this for teenage son’s room. So far seems to be holding up. As always directions a little hard to follow and has several parts and steps. I guess you have to store extra mattress separately as I’m not sure how it would fit on the bed?5
Assembly notesLayshaYou definitely need two people to put it together. None of them need to have a degree in architecture or be a licensed contractor. As others have written, the instructions are challenging because the parts aren't labeled. But it's not as though they look alike so it just took a moment to scan the packet. The assembly is in 3 steps (trundle>frame>drawers). The box labels do not correspond to the steps; you have to open all 3 boxes to begin with. However, the screws etc. are in separate baggies, which makes assembly easier. Took us about 4 hours total over two sessions; worth it to take your time, relax and not let it stress you out. This was one of the few days beds I could find that folded out to king size, and had storage, and didn't have obtrusive "arms." Price is relatively reasonable for all that plus 2 mattresses (mattresses it came with are awful, will use a pad on top for guests and nights where one of us doesn't want to be married ;)4
Excellent purchase!JoniVery satisfied with this daybed so far. I hired someone through Taskrabbit who was excellent and it is perfect! Looks beautiful in room which is a combined office/guest room.5
Does not close properlyBlakeThe trundle does not close properly. We have taken it apart multiple times and it still does not close properly. Also, the instructions are horrible to follow. Instead we ended up watching a youtube video for installation help. Ikea needs to be better.3
Difficult assemblyDanielThis assembly took me 4 hours using an electric drill and I have a degree in architecture. The assembly instructions have some steps that are complicated to interpret. Save yourself some pain and pay for the install service. The mattresses are very thin and the wood plank supporting structure are very weak. It does not feel sturdy for the hefty sized adult. I hope you don't need to move this bed into another room because that will be a headache.3
Nice BedRenataI really like the bed, and my daughter's room looks awesome now. Assembling it wasn't a piece of cake, though. The drawers are pretty cool, I must say. But the mattress choices? Not great – all too firm and not comfy. Ended up grabbing a mattress topper, and now the bed's all cozy!4
Great ProductGilberto L.Great product easy to assemble.5
Beautiful but dangerousMariaLove the design. Even though it took several hours to build, it wasn't too hard to build. Very practical and comfortable. The problem is that the support beams are very very frail. The manual has no indication of what is the maximum weight the bed can support. No indications of this item being something only for kids or small teenagers. I had family over, and they used the bed. 3 beams broke while they were sleeping. If they were heavier, they could have gotten seriously injured. Best that Ikea offered me was 10% of money back, and after accepting for at least getting money to buy wood myself to repair it, they stated that no other negotiations or repairs can be done afterward. I will never again buy beds from Ikea.1
Need better hardware (Screws)MagdyGood quality materials but the screws are not good4
This daybed is perfect!Susy-AdryannaThis bed was very easy to put together. My elderly Mama and I had a fun time putting it together ourselves. It's exactly what I was looking for. I highly recommend this daybed.5
Missing screwsTheresaGot this bed for my daughter. Complicated to assemble and some screws are missing. Had to contact ikea and took a week to get the screws.3

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.

Function solution

Sofa and bed in one

Living in a small space or need an extra bed sometimes? Then a daybed is a smart solution since you get two types of furniture in one - a sofa by day and bed by night. And since some of our daybeds also have drawers, you get a practical place to store anything from bed linens to clothes and toys.

Designer thoughts

Designer thoughts

"Living in a small space often presents big demands for smart storage. That’s what we wanted to solve by creating BRIMNES – a series of functional bedroom furniture with storage in every piece and at a low price. We made the bed frame with generous drawers and the headboard with room for books, magazine files and holes for cables. The wardrobe was given adjustable shelves so that you can maximize your storage. We hope you will enjoy living with this furniture in your home for a long time – regardless of whether you combine them or use them as individual pieces."
