The cork is thick enough to insulate heat from mugs with hot tea protecting the surface below. The raised rim looks nice and functional too. £1.50 for 2 is excellent value.

Lost item. Anonymous reviewerI took a new convert to IKEA with me on this occasion and she insisted on placing my coasters in her shopping trolley which I wasn’t happy with. . I should have been stronger and insisted more I carried my own purchases!! She managed to lose my coasters on the way home which I felt would have been fab. They looked perfect for the application I purchased them for. Love and learn.

What is cork?
Cork comes from cork oak bark which is carefully cut from the tree’s trunk. It then takes about nine years until the tree forms new bark that can be harvested. Since a cork oak can live to be aged 150-200, each one produces a lot of cork during its lifetime. Cork has several good qualities as a material: it’s lightweight, flexible, waterproof and naturally resists fire. We use it in furniture and accessories.
