Join us for our "Community Food & Basic Essentials Donation" Drive

Join our “Community Food & Basic Essentials Donation Drive” to support local families in need through local non-profits! We’re collecting essential food and household items 7 days a week from 10AM–9PM. Donation boxes (that look like houses!) can be found at our main exit, and in between our cash lanes and entrance lobby.

What you need to know

• Pick your order up at your earliest convenience.
• We'll hold your order for 24 hours, after that it will be canceled.
• Make sure you have enough space in your vehicle to fit your order.

Where to go

For curbside pick-up:

1. Follow signs to the Click & Collect Order Pick-Up area on the left (West) side of the building.
2. Park in one of the designated spots and check-in.
3. Wait in your vehicle and we will be out with your order shortly.

For in-store pick-up:

1. Park in the loading zone in front of the store and check-in.
2. Enter through the Exchanges & Returns Entrance, to the left of the Main Entrance.
3. Turn left and proceed to the Furniture Pick-Up Counter to pick-up your order.

Being a good neighbor and demonstrating commitment to our local community is an essential part of who we are at IKEA. Our priority is to take an active hands-on approach to serving the needs of our community by creating impactful actions that will be a part of real lasting change. As a company that deeply cares about people and the planet, we are guided by a simple yet powerful IKEA vision of creating a better everyday life for the many people.

IKEA Costa Mesa has committed to dedicating resources to helping our most vulnerable populations in Orange County- the at-risk and the homeless. Here are some of our recent contributions in our local community:

• Hosted the Newport Mesa Unified School 
  District and Hoag Hospital Back to School Resource Fair.
• Co-Hosted a “Thanksgiving at the club” Thanksgiving Dinner for over 200 community members with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast.
• Collected & Donated soft toys to Laura’s House during the Holiday Months.
• Collected & Donated food items for OC based non-profit Thomas House Family Shelters and LA based non-profit Big Sunday.
• Participated in our 5th year with the Costa Mesa Firefighters Association’s Operation Santa. This year, we hosted 9 families from the community in our Swedish Restaurant for Breakfast, and donated beds and additional home furnishing needs.
• During the weeks and months following the devastating LA Wildfires, the IKEA stores in the Los Angeles area. Provided fire victims with support by hosting clothing drives alongside LA based non-profit Big Sunday. Together with our IKEA Costa Mesa community, we were able to fill 3 storage containers and a 10 foot van full of clothing, shoes, and much more. Co-workers, leaders and managers from all of the IKEA Los Angeles locations came together with Santa Monica College to sort donations, collect donations from the community, package all donations, move donations into trucks or vans, and work with the teams there to transport the donations to the site of the SMC Fire Resource Drive. 

Sustainability at IKEA Costa Mesa

At IKEA, we want to empower people to live more sustainably, so we’re focusing on affordable, resource and energy-efficient products. With home solar panels, plant-based food options, and energy-saving solutions, we’re paving the way for more sustainable homes for the many. At IKEA Costa Mesa we have taken steps to create a more sustainable environment in our location.

Here are a few ways that we have done that:

Between September of 2023 and April of 2024, IKEA Costa Mesa:

• Solar Energy Numbers:     
  1,106 panel system     
  250 kW capacity     
  983,582 kWh producedo    
• Through our Buy Back & Resell Service had:41,442 items repackaged to stock.    
  153,136 items sold through As-Is.    
  599 items bought back from customers.
• Through available Electric Vehicle chargers had:     
  5,492 gallons of fuel saved.    
  432,720 kWh provided.
• Fuel Cell Energy Numbers:     
  300 kW system size     
  2,090,642 kWh produced     
  588,989 lbs CO2 o seto    
• A few additional local initiatives: 

• Did you know that we offer a recycling center in between our main exit, and our Exchanges & Returns Department, where you can drop off any of the following items, and let us take care of the rest!
  Batteries - Plastic - Aluminum - Paper - Lightbulbs
• You may also notice our cardboard recycling bins outside of our store in the loading zone. Bring back your IKEA packaging and we will recycle your cardboard for you!
• We currently offer 4 Blink EV parking spots just outside of our main entrance, and we heard your request for more! Earlier this Spring, we added 27 additional Electric Vehicle Chargers to our parking lot closest to IKEA Way.
• We have solar covered parking that not only provides shade for your vehicles, it produces clean solar energy that we utilize to power our operations to help power the store and offset our carbon footprint.
• We offer a Buy Back Program! Do you have IKEA furniture that’s an oldie, but it's still a goodie and looking to retire it? We’ll buy it back and you can help pave the way toward sustainable living. • Have you stopped by our Sustainability Shed in the parking lot outside of our returns & exchanges department? Whether it’s spare doors, shelves, or pieces of furniture we can’t sell- it is available free of charge! It is while supplies last as well as not a guarantee, but make sure you check it out the next time you visit!
