Create a bright white kitchen

A white kitchen is a great option for those looking for a clean and visually uncluttered look. Opting for white kitchen cabinets makes the space feel lighter and more spacious. The white cabinets and walls can reflect light and, as a result, reduce shadows. This helps give the illusion of an open area, even if your space is on the smaller side.

In the past, white kitchens were considered "too sterile" and "too institutional". However, more people are opting for them now as they can be customized to any style. They also offer a blank canvas that is perfect for personalizing.

Two toned kitchens

A white kitchen is the perfect starting point if you want to bring a secondary color into your design. Incorporating another color into your white kitchen design is a terrific way to create more interest.

Here are some ways you can do this:

  • Use the other color for accents, such as trims or accessories.
  • Use white for all of the cabinets against a wall and use a different color on your kitchen island.
  • Use a darker color for your base cabinets and keep your upper cabinets white to create a bright and airy feel in your kitchen.

Finishing touches

Choosing countertops

Almost any countertop can work with a white kitchen, but we recommend either a light color to compliment the white cabinets, or go much darker with a gray or black countertop. Stone and laminate countertops are a classic durable choice. Or add a bit more warmth to your kitchen with a butcher block or wood finish laminate countertop.

Choosing appliances

White or stainless steel appliances work perfectly with a white kitchen. The white will blend in seamlessly, while the stainless steel is a staple for any kitchen.

Choosing hardware

Knobs and handles in cool and warm metals work beautifully against a light background. Or choose black handles for contrast.
