Like the game pick up sticksDeborahThe lamp came in actual thin strips to be erected. It was a bit more than some assembly required. We were also taken a back by the cheapness of the material which made it unsuitable for the area we had in mind. The lamp came in a box that looked as if it had been previously used. When I tried to return it through FedX I had to incurr a charge of $14.77. Not a good experience at all. I ordered online as the closest IKEA store is three hours away from my home and I no longer drive long distances. Suffice it to say that I won't be doing this again.
This light makes me smile every time I see it!LindaThis lamp is a marvel of design, and I am soooo happy with it -- open all the way or closed. I have it over my kitchen sink and generally keep it in the drum shape because it filters the light between the alternating leaves. This is not a light for people with young children around because it is delicate and could easily get damaged. I was afraid I had a dud, but I found that I just had to pull a lot harder than expected to move the "leaves", so don't give up if you like this lamp. The wires may pop out of the ring when you adjust it but can be easily put back, or you can hold the ring in place while you pull. For the price, it's fabulous. I'd give it four stars because it is a bit fiddly, but it's so wonderful that my joy is saying five stars.
