The worktop is made of particle board covered with a top layer of veneer. This method allows us to use less wood in production.

Countertop with a thick oak veneer, a durable natural material that can be sanded and surface treated when required.

Oak is an exceedingly strong and durable hardwood with a prominent grain. It darkens beautifully with age acquiring a golden-brown undertone.

Thick wood veneer on both the top and bottom of the worktop creates a uniform, polished look from every angle.

Every countertop is unique, with varying grain pattern and natural color shifts that are part of the charm of wood.

For quick installation and easy maintenance the countertop is pre-treated with hard wax oil.

You can cut the worktop to the length you want and cover the edges with the included edging strip.

Care

Do not place a toaster, coffee maker, kettle or other kitchen appliances that emit heat directly over a seam between two countertops because the heat can damage the seam.

Areas where the countertop may dry out, such as edges and areas around the sink and cooktop, require frequent treatment.

The worktop surface is pre-treated at the factory with hard wax oil. Due to the nature of the material, treat the edges and cut-outs with wood treatment oil, prior to installation.

To ensure that your worktop ages gracefully, treat it regularly with wood treatment oil; it gives the surface a beautiful sheen, protects the wood and prolongs the life of the worktop.

Even though thick veneer is a durable material you should never place hot pots or pans directly on the worktop without a trivet or pot stand.

Never use a steel scourer, scourer pad, souring agent or similar products as they can scratch the surface.

Worktops in laminate or thick veneer that are installed above a dishwasher or oven shall be protected on the underside with FENSJÖ diffusion barrier.

Safety and compliance

Supporting legs are required when an overhang exceeds 9 7/8". The maximum distance between these legs should not be more than 31 1/2".

Too many defectsLenaThe countertop has too many little holes and scratches. Because it's wood veneer, there are a lot of knots that haven't been sealed. This kind of porous material is not suitable for a kitchen countertop.1

It is durable and looks great alongside all the other original wood/wood cabinets we have in our homes kitchen. Wood pattern is different from 74” VrenaLindseyWe purchased a 74” and 98” Vrena countertop to build a long bench, and realized after cutting the 74” board that the two counters were manufactured with different width boards in the butcher block design. They looked noticeably different and can’t be used together. I tried chatting with customer service and can’t seem to get anyone to understand the problem so I wish it was an option to upload a picture! The 74” counter “boards” in the butcher block are about 1.75” wide and the boards in the 98” counter are 2.25” wide. 2
PARTICLE BOARD CORE! Very misleading!ThomasWhen we cut this counter top, we noticed that the core was all particle board and not traditional solid wood planks. I was in shock. I didn't even know something like this could be considered a butcher block counter. The way the factory ends are made, makes it seem that the core is solid wood. The description states SOLID WOOD AND VENEER. The one picture for the product looks like it is a cut piece and has solid wood planks inside. It is listed nowhere visibly that this has particle board inside, until you click on product details, and it's the 3rd section down. Yes, it is "solid wood" if you consider wood shavings compressed together solid wood. They also say this can be sanded down, but the veneer is so thin you will probably hit the particle board. Shame on IKEA!1
Table top multiple purposePegThe table top was the perfect fit for our van conversion. It was used as countertop and table.5

desk setupSharooGreat aesthetic desk. I was originally going to get the Karlby tabletop as that was the one featured in every desk setup, but ended up getting the Vrena tabletop. It caught my eye and was different from every other desk setup. Nice light golden brown butcherblock and cheaper than the Karbly so I saved some money too. p.s. It can be sanded, stained, and refinished but the veneer runs thin so be careful5
