Not that sturdyLuanneI love the clean look of this shelf, but this is the first time that something from IKEA was less than solid when assembled. There were tiny screws included to attach the legs. They were barely long to catch, and not at all long enough to hold the legs without wobbling. My husband ended up fixing it by using lock nuts; it's now solid as a rock.3

I use this shelf in a Kallax cabinetPaoI'm using this shelf inside a Kallax cabinet. There are Kallax shelf partitions, but they don't fit if you also have a door in the cube. With the VARIERA shelf, I can keep the door and have a shelf too. I wish there was a shelf specifically made for a Kallax cube with door, as this shelf is loose but it works well enough to take advantage of the space 5

Sturdy and practicalJohnI have these in my Lixhult metal cabinets in my utility room. They are super sturdy and almost double the amount of things I'm able to store in the cabinets. I do wish they were a bit cheaper, but I figure they'll probably last forever.4
