Love it!AlexisWe have two. One for coffee and one for loose tea. It works wonderful for both.5
IKEA UPPHETTA French PressJoanneIt's a cheap french press. You get what you pay for. I'm on my third one of these because the glass breaks so easily. The first time, the glass around the handle cracked (after about 9 months of daily use), the second time, my boyfriend knocked it against another dish when he was washing it and the rim chipped. I got it because its affordable and does the job but maybe next time I'll buy one that's more expensive so at least it will last longer. But overall for the price, it's a decent french press. Just be very careful with it!2
Handle too small, plunger not deep enpugh.Aragorn11A coffee press is supposed to press coffee. But the plunger of this one doe not travel down far enough for the screen to compress the coffee grounds. And the handle has been downsized from the older version. It is so close to the glass carafe that your fingers are in contact with the hot glass while attempting to pour. Time to look for a real Bodum.2
Coffee never tasted betterPhoto DivaI frequently watch Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee during breakfast or lunch. The coffee making clips inserted right after they order really make your mouth water. Before you know it, you're making a pot of coffee. Sometimes they show coffee being made in a French press so when I passed by a display of Upphettas in the food market, I stopped in my tracks and got one (and some coffee and crisp bread and preserves and cookies and tea) to use for the next episode. As soon as I got home, I showed the spouse my haul, queued up the show and made my first French press pot of coffee. Let me tell ya, after that first sip, we were SHOOKETH to the core! I had no idea that coffee filters were stealing all the body and flavor from my beans. I drank it black. With sugars. (White, brown, raw, coconut, molasses, etc...) Sugar and milk. Sugar and half & half. Sugar and almond milk. Ice cream. Spices. (Cinnamon, cardamom, cocoa powder, pumpkin pie spice, cake spice, nutmeg, etc...) My electric coffee maker has been sitting on the counter unused since I brought this thing home. Even the cheap, emergency coffee that's only used when I run out of the good stuff tastes good in this pot. ..... And then I made iced coffee. First using leftover coffee. Later, an overnight cold brew. Once again, I was shooketh. I could not get enough. During the July heatwave I was drinking iced coffee morning, noon and night. I'm much more of a tea drinker than coffee, but all my tea leaves were left holding the bag for a while. The only thing that slowed down my coffee consumption was an eye twitch I get when I have too much coffee. I know it's time to put on the breaks when I'm winking & blinking so I started making tea in my upphetta. The only drawback is grounds & leaf disposal. It's easy to toss a filter or bag in the trash but cleanup with this means you have to wipe out wet crud with a napkin or paper towel. On the other hand, it's much easier to clean a French press than an electric coffee maker.5
Good for the price, but didn"t hold upcieraruWhen I first picked up this coffee press I was very impressed with the quality. It felt sturdy and well made, while also being quite stylish. Unfortunately, after 5-6 uses the rim chipped and I was no longer able to use it.1
Samah19I keep buying this every time I love it5

A better everyday one cup at a time

Have you had coffee or tea today? Statistically, you most likely have. In fact, these hot brews are the most consumed beverages in the world next after water. They’re a part of life that can give a silver lining to any moment. That’s why we decided to update our selection of products to make that perfect cup – from the tea infuser and the kettle to the milk frother.

Malin Ljungström, who was involved in developing the range, shares her insights. “To many, the smell of coffee and tea means well-being and a homey feeling. Since we want to improve people’s everyday, we’re offering products that make it possible for more to experience more feelgood moments at home.”

Developing things that make a difference

Malin and her colleagues dug deep into coffee and tea cultures to find out what tools people feel they can’t live without. They talked to specialists and investigated living, eating and drinking habits. “We wanted to develop items that make a difference, so we’ve focused on a few, but carefully selected products,” she states. The team cooperated with IKEA Test Lab in Älmhult, Sweden. It’s an IKEA version of a James Bond lab where prototypes are inspected and evaluated. “A couple of the things we checked were that the thermoses can keep fluids really warm for a long time. And that the glass mugs and glass pots are durable and comfortable, even though they look and feel light and airy,” says Malin.

For all tastes and different wallets

No matter how you enjoy your cup, you’ll find the things that put an extra flavor to your drink in the range. Another good thing is that there’s something for all wallets. “It’s one of our contributions to a better life at home. A way to improve people’s everyday one cup at a time,” concludes Malin.
