Just what I was looking for.LorieFor months I had been looking for a file cabinet that would fit under my Ikea desk in my home office and they were all too tall. This one fit perfectly and the fact that it is on casters and has a lot is a bonus.
Nice set of a drawer and filing Samerjust what I needed, Initially I put the file rail on the large option then it was easy to make it narrower without needing to dismantle the drawers really flexible and convenient. Also the price is affordable compared to other options
Should immediately be removed from circulationBartAssembling this item is hazardous. You’re required to bend metal clips using an unspecified tool, and like most people, I resorted to a flathead screwdriver. The process is risky, as slipping while bending the clips could easily result in injury. I came close to cutting myself multiple times. Beyond the unsafe assembly method, the manual is poorly written, with unclear or outright incorrect instructions. The final product is wobbly, with loose components and an annoying clinking noise. It took me about 1.5 hours to assemble, and by the end, I was frustrated and angry. I usually enjoy assembling IKEA products and appreciate their design, but this particular item is both unacceptable and dangerous.
Loud, Wobbly Anonymous reviewerMany of my parts did not fit together as snuggly as the instructions implied - leaving some gaps that allowed the metal to wobble noisily. Instead of screws, in some parts of the construction there are only metal tabs to fold down which are not enough to make for a solid piece. Normally I'd tighten screws to fix this but there's no option for that.
Helpful Construction TipKathrynThe pictorial instructions for this cabinet are the worst I've ever seen. Constructing the drawers is the hardest part of this cabinet. Pay VERY close attention to which sides you use for the bottom drawer. Use the sides WITHOUT the white wheels - those are for the top drawer. I discovered this through extremely painful trial and error. You will attach the sides in Step 11 for the bottom drawer and Step 24 for the top drawer. The drawing is much clearer for the top drawer as it shows the wheels. If I'd known this differentiation, I would have completed the build in about an hour. Not knowing this, it took me more hours than I will ever get back in my life. Also pay super close attention to which holes you select when constructing the square which your file folders will hang on. The inside hole is for American letter size, the outside is an odd 13" measure. When built it's decent little cabinet. It is quite low but seems to hold a fair amount in the file drawer.
Instructions are the WORST EVERKathrynThe cabinet itself seems pretty good but the instructions are literally the worst ever produced for ANY Ikea product I have purchased. I've put together a number of items including small desks, a 6 drawer office cabinet among others. There are, as other reviewers say, challenges with the picture only instructions. But these are truly beyond the pale as the pictures are so lacking in any key detail or differentiating information that it is nearly impossible to get it right. Come on Ikea - you really must do better!
American Hanging Files are 12 7/8"KathrynAfter reading many reviews, I am extremely hesitant to put this cabinet together. American hanging files (at least mine) are 12 7/8". But the Ikea instructions state that this cabinet will fit file widths of either 12 1/4" or 13" hanging files. So here's the riddle for Ikea: will a 12 & 7/8 hanging file fit on your 13" dimension or will it, in fact, be ever so close but 1/8" short?!
Files dont fitHulnara I tried regular size, and legal files- no files fit. I went o Ikea site thinking Ikea has their own file sizes- its doesnt. What is it good for? What a waste.

Trotten file cabinetPaulaChallenging to put together, compared to other Ikea products I have assembled. The guides for the hanging file folders are too far apart. Also, the drawers do not meet the sides of the file cabinet evenly. It still does the job.
Advanced Degree neededGinaThis is a great little cabinet but it had more parts than any IKEA furniture I’ve ever put together. It would be nice to have more than just picture instructions when something is as complicated as this item is to put together. After having put number pieces of IKEA furniture together, I will say that I am hesitant to ever buy anything else from this line due to the sheer amount of time and effort it took to assemble. Other than that, the item works great! Just plan on spending a few hours to assemble.
Waste of time & moneyMarlaCan’t get it to fit together - many assembly steps involve bending little metal parts with some tool you’re supposed to have on hand - and I can’t return it because I bought it new in box in the clearance “as is” section. Paid too much to have wasted hours on junk.
I retract my last reviewAnonymous reviewerI figured out how to make file work for standard letter size files. It's in instructions. You can also use legal files. That said this file cabinet does not come with any dividers or usual stuff that comes with a file cabinet. It's lightweight which can be a plus or a minus. It's very nice looking and because it's wider than many cabinets you can easily fit a printer on top or extra supplies as shown in pictures

Very useful for under deskRachelWe like this cabinet and it fits perfectly under our big desk. We are still trying to figure out what size file folders fit in the bottom drawer? So far we can't figure it out. It would be helpful if IKEA specified the file folder size in the description.
