The back wall of the cabinet can be mounted to the back or middle of the cabinet if you want the cabinet to be accessible from both sides, with sliding doors on one side and open shelves on the other.
The freestanding cabinet is perfect to use as a divider between different activities in the same room. Creates privacy without blocking the workspace entirely and is great for small and large areas.
The sliding doors are lockable, so you can keep your private belongings safe.
You can transform an area into a creative space for workshops by mounting TROTTEN notice board between the shelves. Lock it with the notice board's fittings to ensure that it hangs firmly in place.
By mounting TROTTEN notice board to the cabinet, you can easily switch between an open and more private space. The notice board absorbs sound, thereby reducing the risk of being disturbed by colleagues.

Awful — isn’t even buildable — Save your money and sanityJenniferI’m a seasoned Ikea builder, love Legos, love putting things together — Trotten is ridiculous. Not only is the manual useless (you need to look at the drill holes in the images to determine which of the many blank white squares goes where) — but from the onset, the drillholes aren’t deep enough so the screws don’t even screw.
Ikea brilliantly has the worst return options wherein you need to detach full furniture and then haul it to a vehicle — which if you live in Manhattan like me is non-existent. Their money making seems to come entirely from selling defective items that are too difficult to return, at a ridiculously costly price for the quality of item. At 350 for a nonsense shelf, you’d imagine it can be assembled without manufacturing errors — but I guess it’s either pay another $90 to uber to Red Hook to return this useless product or eat $350. Shame on you Ikea!!!
Amazing productChristineThis is a great product. I need open and closed storage for files and office supplies, plus room for a printer. I purchased 3 Trotten and placed them across from my desk. I looked at everything before purchasing these -- Room & Board, DWR, Pottery Barn, CB2, Crate Barrel etc. Nothing came even close in functionality, clean design, price and durability. You can spend thousands of dollars at Room & Board and other stores and get wood veener with very little functionality. Why bother? Even the Herman Miller filing cabinet was 2x the cost of this cabinet. When placed together in a room, it has a nice clean aesthetic that is very zen. IKEA could do a much better job displaying the product in its stores -- it looks very homely under the bright fluorescent lights, but when you take it home, it has the right vibe and aesthetics. Someone from TaskRabbit put the shelves together for me -- it was a good deal.
Product defectiveRebeccaSome of the components will not bolt. The cabinet cannot be secured onto the base. Appears to be machined incorrectly. It is very frustrating as I paid to get this delivered. This is such a pain to now try to take this apart, repackage and drive down to the store. For the amount of money this should not happen.

Solid QualityJamesThe build was pretty straight forward. I have build a decent amount of Ikea items prior. But everything fits well. The price is a bit higher but the quality is is worth the premium to me. I have 3 side by side behind my desk and looks great. The bottom cabinet is decent in space but I thought it may be a bit more space and the door opening is a little tighter than I thought. Shelf space is deep and great for large lego sets. I got it to fit the Lego Star Destroyer 75252 on the top shelf.

Excellent office storageAlexI was looking for a storage unit that could also work as a room divider. I wanted one that both was durable and could hold some weight but also look good. The Trotten fit the bill perfectly. The aesthetics are great, especially when combined with other products in the Trotten line. Assembly was really straightforward and there was a good amount of options for configuration. I bought 2 and will probably buy more in the future!
I do think the price was a bit high, just because a black wire shelf would be sturdier for a lot less, just not as aesthetically pleasing. Still was worth the price and I’m glad to have it.
Sturd and beautifulLeticiaI love the design and quality, the only thing I didn’t like much are the sliding doors, because the space you get to reach things inside the cabinet is not very good…regular doors would work better…other then that is perfect…I am not gonna use the doors a lot so it will work the way it is

Excellent Cabinet for a Craft RoomClaireThis cabinet is a nice looking and functional addition to my craft room. Nicely holds my circuit on one open shelf to use without moving. The locking doors make a nice addition and are the perfect spot to store paints. My only complaint is that the doors don't open very wide, maybe 10 inches.
