Attractive and UsefulMarcyI would call a lot of of the office furniture available at IKEA, Office Lite. Great for a home office, but not industrial enough for regular, busy working office. Having said that, I have spent the last six weeks redoing my home office and chose all new pieces from IKEA, the last piece this Trotten storage cabinet. First, it was incredible easy to put together. My husband and I assembled it in an hour. The size works perfectly in my space. I appreciate the clean lines--nothing fancy, but not cheap feeling either. I am using it to store some office supplies, some technology accessories, and some mementos, but that could change. It's not a huge cabinet so don't expect to stuff it with a lot. If you had enough space you could get two to three of them to line a wall. They look good. I have a very small office/no storage in my house, so I am trying to get rid of stacked of bankers boxes. It works for some of that., but I'm still going to have to toss out some items. 5
Useful and versatile!JasonWhat is not made clear in the product description is that the shelves can ONLY be installed on the side away from the doors. The lip of the shelf overlaps the track.
That having been said, this cabinet is perfectly suited for my needs. I wanted a piece of furniture for my office that could be pushed against the wall, but not block the power and network ports. With the panel in the middle position, I have a discrete location for my network router, cables, etc.5
Excellent!XiomaraThis is a sturdy piece of furniture for my office space. I have 2 printers on top and keep all my copy paper, ink supplies and other stuff inside. I really like the 2 sliding doors. The lock is fine but I don't think it would be very secure. It is not a feature I needed but is nice to have it.5
Good but needs this extra step in assemblyJohnI usually enjoy the process of assembling IKEA furniture -- Legos for adults. But I agree with the other reviews that this one has a frustrating detail. The holes for the 106917 sheet metal screws are too small, and the screws will not advance more than one turn. I drilled out those screw holes with a 9/64 bit and assembly was much easier.4
What I was looking forLisaI was looking for something to create a work space for my crafts. This worked out perfectly. I did purchase it preassembled so I can not speak to that.5
Beautiful, but Nightmare AssemblyMickenzieThis cabinet is gorgeous, which is why we purchased it. However, it's an absolute nightmare to assemble. Trying to screw the side walls to the base and the back to the walls is practically impossible and causes the screws to strip. Not easy at all. Disappointed.1
Mission impossibleMaryIn 2.5 hours I have only been able to get five screws to go into place. I have tried two different electric drills, five different Phillips head screwdrivers and turned the cabinet every way I can to try to get the screws into place. They just don't bite and can't be forced. Ikea has no business offering metal cabinets.1
