To save on our natural resources and make use of as much of the tree as possible, we have used sawmill leftovers and scrap wood in the particle boards for SMÅSTAD.

My living space has downsized and I needed additional storage in my all white bathroom. This chest fits perfectly and still allows my big towels to hang above it with ease.
When I restock my Costco TP and tissue, I’ll readily have a place to store them. Assembly was straight forward and for additional strength, I always add wood glue to wood-on-wood components.
Storage is not connected to bench and doesn’t work on carpetLindseyThe idea is nice but I wish they showed more photos of the assembly. The storage is not connected to the bench it’s a separate unit and has wheels on the bottom. It doesn’t move on carpet so if you want it for a bedroom forget about it.

Not For Carpet!DavidVery easy to put together, BUT do NOT buy this if you’re putting it on carpet. Especially if it’s going on plush carpet, it’s extremely difficult to open and close it. I can’t imagine a child opening and closing it on carpet without help. I wish it worked better and had a track built in for the drawer. It just sits on shallow wheels that are useless on carpet.

Not my favorite IKEA productKrisDo not buy this if you intend to use it in a spot that has anything but bare floor. It's basically useless in my kid's room because the drawer rolls on the ground and it's hard to open it more than a few inches because it hits the area rug and gets stuck.

Modern toy chestLisanaIt's so convenient to have a multi purpose toy chest we just use the top as a bench or to organize miscellaneous toys that are out of place. And it just blends with the rest of the room so when a guest come in it is not obvious of what it is.
IKEA quality declining. KatieI’m disappointed in this bench - had high hopes for using it in my entryway to store shoes and sit on, only to find that thinner materials means the middle sags significantly when you sit on it. For reference, I’m about 140 lbs, so not huge. Wondering when ikea quality will return?

What is constructed board?
We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fiberboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
