Initial Smell, But Gone After A WashHanThis bedspread is incredibly soft on the skin and has a nice balance of thin/thick without being too hot—even on summer nights. Love that it's made from 100% cotton and the geometric pattern is so beautiful. I did notice an initial smell (similar to glue) upon purchase, but it dissipated after I washed it with my usual detergent (deep wash, warm water). I prefer to air dry my linens, but have experienced no issues with shrinking with the occasional machine drying. Highly recommend this!
Smells like a gas stationValerieGorgeous fabric but oh my goodness smells like gasoline. Multiple days of off gassing outside and inside has not helped nor have multiple washes. Do not buy if you are concerned about chemicals or just don’t want to deal with this major disappointment. I don’t live close to an Ikea to return it so just so bummed out.
Smells AbhorrentHannahAbsolutely lovely to look at but reeks of some terrible turpentine-like smell that does not wash out. I live in an apartment and have no where to hang this to air out. I've washed it twice and it's making my house smell.

Awful smell JeanI’m not sure if it was imparted from the garment facility or in transit or storage but the smell is awful. I got an immediate headache opening the package. To their credit, IKEA sent a replacement after I reached out, but the second bedspread they sent had the same issue. I washed multiple times, wasting loads of water and detergent and vinegar = $. I even tried airing it outside in the sun as well… nothing worked. I’m returning both.
Great pattern, lovely bedspreadJuliaI'm really happy with this bedspread. It's pretty thin but has good weight to it. It is a full/queen size, and is large enough to cover a queen bed with quite a bit of overhang on the sides and end of the bed, which I like. Currently using it in warm weather, and it's breathable enough not to get too overheated at night, but due to the weight I imagine it would also be warm during the colder months. The pattern is great, simple and contemporary. Highly recommend!
Beautiful but the smell!AmySaw a king sized quilt in the as-is section as a customer return and thought it was a steal. What I didn't notice was the awful fuel smell. I've washed the quilt three times, using a oxy bleach, then a laundry booster, then a laundry sanitizer. I let it air out in my living room for a week, and now it's hanging in the sun outside and I can smell it as I walk by. I can't return it because it was as-is. I would bet the original buyer returned it for the smell and if so it shouldn't have been out back out for sale. I will say, it's held up to the washing and feels and looks lovely, but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to use it.
Exactly what I wantedShelleyI am so pleasantly surprised by my entire IKEA experience. Everything about this bed cover surpassed my expectations! The thick 100% cotton fabric, the vibrant blues, the pattern and the way it came out of the wash it all spelled quality and value.

Smells like gasoline NicoleI LOVE the pattern so so so so much. BUT the blanket is off-gassing and has stunk up my entire house. Smells like toxic petroleum. I washed it. Washed it with vinegar. Dried it. And now have it spread out in the guest room to air out. If it wasn’t winter, I would leave it out side for a few days. This bedspread will sit eventually on our beds but it will won’t come in contact with our skin as I’m certain it’s toxic.

Awful smellAnnaI love this bedspread but I, like others, unfolded it out of the packaging to an awful industrial chemical smell that has proven to stick around like nothing I have ever dealt with before. Ikea is arranging a pickup/refund and I am planning on ordering a replacement and hoping I get the 5 star version that others here have raved about. I will update this review if anything changes the second time around!
Very comfortableBradleyI love the pattern, material, and weight. It's perfect to burrito up into for naps on the couch. I'm considering buying a second one to replace my wool camping blanket because this feels just as durable without being scratchy. I have not experienced any odor issues that some others have reported.
Perfect midweight comfortHollyBlanket is beautiful pattern. Good quality with no loose threads and even pattern. Washed well and no noticeable shrinkage. Slight chemical smell initially, but faded in a day or two. We got king-size which covered our mattress top.
