Axstad white - incorrect doorGina*This is specifically in regards to product 292.887.89.* For some reason, this cabinet came with two doors (thought this might have been human error, but two are actually listed in the materials list). Not only that, but they were doors for hinges rather than pull out drawers. This wouldn't be an issue, except there is a giant hole where the rails for the drawer need to connect to the door. We had to find a circular piece of wood to fill the hole, drill into that, and connect the rails from there. Maybe the extra door is anticipating making a mistake and needing to start over? We purchased 5 different ikea base cabinets for a kitchen island project and this was the only one we had major issues with. Ikea - the door for this unit should be updated! 3
Never again, unclear instructionsLindaI've put together a number of IKEA items including the large Hemnes dresser. This cabinet with a door adapted to be a drawer front is the worst. Uncertain at many steps, even the top drawer front is not fitting into the cabinet correctly.1
Love the cabinetsBrandiThey are versatile, a great use of space, and affordable. Installation was pretty straightforward, although the drawers were difficult to figure out. We managed, though, and we got everything put together by ourselves. The people at IKEA are top-notch and wonderful to work with. The "systems" for customer service, though, are awful. If there is a problem, it's nearly impossible to contact a central office/person to work things out.5

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
