Poor designFrancesI purchased this umbrella eight months ago(August 2024) and it broke. The mechanism used to keep the umbrella upright is twine-like dental floss with a vinyl covering. I returned it to Ikea because it was expensive for an umbrella, expecting to get some type of store credit. Instead, I was told that it was my fault for over tightening. I was told that " no one else in the whole United States has returned this for a broken hanging twine ". A statement I found hard to believe due to the products weak mechanism. Nevertheless, I am completely disappointed in Ikea in the way this was handled. I've been shopping there for decades and this is the first thing I have returned and it definitely wasn't due to my over tightening. I live in Southern California and I believe that the umbrella is not built for mostly sunny weather. 1
Easy assembly MicheleThis was easy to assemble. You will need two people to stand it up. You will want to purchase the sand bags and fill them before putting the umbrella upright. 5
