Bartop perfectStewartThis countertop is beautiful in my private English pub. Surrounded by dark woods and copper accents, it's becoming the central hang out when friends come over.5

I Would Never Buy AgainHaruko R.Purchased in 2014. I have it both near my stove and near my kitchen sink. Within just a few years it started coming apart in the middle of the countertop, as well as on the edges, where the thin strip is adhered. Food and debris gets stuck where it is coming apart and bowing up. The countertops will be replaced as soon as possible. I have tried to get in touch with IKEA by phone, by email and in person. There has been minimal contact with a live person and what contact I have had has been negligible. I gave up trying to get in touch with representatives and will never purchase any home item of any significance from IKEA again.1
Holds up really wellJennifer D.I bought this as a temporary counter for our remodel while we save for better countertops down the road. I use it along the perimeter of the kitchen where it takes a beating being next to the sink and stove. I chose to do laminate butcher block because the maintenance is much easier vs. real butcher block. So far it has held up really well - better than the pricier "faux marble" laminate on the island that was from a big box store. There are only a couple very small scratches and I'm pretty sure they are from where our kids didn't use a cutting board, but that would be expected. I gave it 4 stars though because I think it could look more realistic and wish it came in lighter tones, but for the price it can't be beat.4
Way above my expectationsCharles B.Really great countertop. I paired it with 5 ADILS legs and it looks & feels amazing as my desk setup, not to mention how very affordable it is.5

PerfectCindyI got a suggestion to try a section of countertop along with a couple Alex drawers to make a desk. Got an Alex and a Tillslag trestle along with a Salian and it’s great. It’s deep enough for working on and pieces we’re included to cover the ends if I decide to move it out of it’s wall space. It’s *very* solid5
wish the color would beTomaswish the color would be more natural and more up to date2
Great inexpensive alternativeBRIANWe have an older mobile home so this is the perfect countertop replacement during the complete remodel. Easy to cut and place. Cleans really well too.5
Great countertop, reasonable priceValarieI like these countertops, which are thicker than the usual premade ones available in the US, The price is excellent. Since they are made in Europe (Italy) I presume they are at least as, if not more, free of VOCs that will offgas from the particleboard substrate. Very heavy. No built in backsplash. Not enough variation in v=colors/patterns for me to have gotten my very first choice, but quite ok.4
great productCHANDRAvery nice product and worked out really well when i used it for a countertop in my pantry.5

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.
Forests are critical for life on earth
Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.
100% wood from more sustainable sources
At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.
IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030
As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.
We accomplish more by working together
For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.
What are foil and laminate?
Some wooden materials need protection with a durable and easy-care foil or laminate surface. The choice depends on the end use and desired finish. We often use paper foil for storage furniture, while plastic foil suits demanding areas like kitchens and bathrooms. Today, the plastic we use is mostly recycled and our goal is to use plastic from renewable sources. Laminate is made of resin-impregnated paper, which adds a durable and moisture-resistant surface for countertops.
Built and tested to last
We believe that our kitchen countertops should meet your highest demands when it comes to design and performance, without compromise. That’s why we test our countertops, and put them up against the everyday challenges they’ll face in your kitchen: liquids, oil, food, steam, heat, bumps and scratches. When they’ve passed our testing, we know they’ll last, and we guarantee it with our 25 year limited warranty.
