Don't waste your money & TIMECallieJust spent nearly 60 minutes trying to install batteries. Then read other reviews on this site & see I am not the only one. This item should either be removed from inventory or ReDesign it since the premise of the IKEA brand is functional, groovy, innovative design. Can't believe I wasted so much of my valuable time. However, price was so low I'm tempted to just toss in trash bin after it's been in my house less than 24 hours. Not sure if I want to spend 2 or 3 hours to return it to store.1
Battery IssueMayaIs anyone else having an issue with getting batteries in? It can't possibly be this hard to replace the batteries. And when I do, they get packed in there so tight, it feels like something hasn't been done right. I'm on the fence about buying another one because of this, since there is now corrosion on the battery contacts. 2
very good, with some care.Ericthey work fine for what they are -- not high-powered, not suitable for a commercial kitchen, but they hold up just fine for my couple-times-a-week use at home, blending powders into beverages. they can struggle a little bit sometimes, but they ultimately do the job. at one point, one of mine stopped working, even with a recent battery swap. before throwing it out, i decided to inspect and found that there was corrosion on the battery terminal. so i sprayed some isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab, cleaned out the battery compartment and the positive pole of the battery, put it back together and we're still in business several months later! so try that before throwing away a "dead" one. batteries are a bit of a pain to swap, but at this price, i'm willing to suffer a little bit. no big deal.5
Very cheaply madeD.This product is very low quality. It feels like a play toy a little kid would use.1
Drink mixerDonWorks great for liquids and drinks.4
How do you put the batteries in?AnonymousIt's a frustrating half hour when you're sleepy and just want to froth your drink but instead you have to wrestle with getting the batteries in this thing. I'd be OK with the handle being 1mm bigger to make this easy. What's the trick here? I've tried angles, taking the battery door off (it snaps off every time, anyway). How are we supposed to do this?3
Boot your coffee gameMichelleI use this to froth my coffee creamer.5
No instructionsMarySo frustrating. No instructions on battery installation. It is not intuitive. Thanks to Richard and other reviewers, we finally successfully installed the batteries. But, success should not depend on the kindness of strangers.2
I love this!!TeresaIt's very sturdy and easy to use. Good quality and price!5
ProductRenatealmost impossible to install batteries4
Better than my more expensive frotherBeckyThe frother works very well! The only negative aspect, for me, is inserting the batteries.5
Gifted to a espresso loverEllenThey loved it.4
Milk FrotherLoriAlso had issues as with others regarding the difficulty getting both batteries in the frother. But I finally got them in, the frother works great.4
Still Good, even at half the weightTomHave had numbers of these over the years, and this one seems to work just as the others have (I usually moved or lost them before they stopped working). This version is quite a bit flimsier, though, so it probably needs more gentle handling than its predecessors. Still no battery installation instructions, though. Anyway, as someone else here pointed out, the "trick" is to put the batteries in according to the pictogram on the battery door: Slide door open, put AA battery in with positive (+) end facing out (the + on the door and the battery + should be in the same position), apply a small amount of force to push battery in and down until it clicks into position, then slide second battery in with + end in, so negative end aligns with (-) symbol on door, press lightly and slide door back into place. Check your work by turning it on.4
Great inexpensive frother!RebeccaI bought one of these frothers probably close to 5 years ago, and have used it probably thousands of times. Mine finally frothed its last froth, and I will have to suffice with a more expensive one from a local store, instead of driving over an hour just to buy a frother. I WILL be buying another one when I am at IKEA next! I very much appreciate that it can stand up on its own, and has a switch instead of a button for operation.5
Battery design is very frustrating.AnonymousThe frother works well however, the design of the placement of the batteries is so frustrating I just can't make it work. Great price, but doesn't matter if you can't change the batteries when needed.3
No high value productPrashantIt is ok, do the work, though it is made of cheap components.2
Best Milk-FrotherClaraI use my Ikea Produkt milk-frother everyday. Sometimes multiple times. I froth my warm milk for coffee in the morning. I froth my milk for a green tea latte in the afternoon. And sometimes I froth cocoa in the evening before bed. Makes a great gift.5
Works great for the priceVivienKinda of tricky to get batteries in, but it works great for under $5. You need a deep cup because the milk with spray everywhere.5
FrotherRobbiFrother. Functions as expected. Sturdy. Was a gift. Recipient was happy to receive it. Good value for money.5

A better everyday one cup at a time

Have you had coffee or tea today? Statistically, you most likely have. In fact, these hot brews are the most consumed beverages in the world next after water. They’re a part of life that can give a silver lining to any moment. That’s why we decided to update our selection of products to make that perfect cup – from the tea infuser and the kettle to the milk frother.

Malin Ljungström, who was involved in developing the range, shares her insights. “To many, the smell of coffee and tea means well-being and a homey feeling. Since we want to improve people’s everyday, we’re offering products that make it possible for more to experience more feelgood moments at home.”

Developing things that make a difference

Malin and her colleagues dug deep into coffee and tea cultures to find out what tools people feel they can’t live without. They talked to specialists and investigated living, eating and drinking habits. “We wanted to develop items that make a difference, so we’ve focused on a few, but carefully selected products,” she states. The team cooperated with IKEA Test Lab in Älmhult, Sweden. It’s an IKEA version of a James Bond lab where prototypes are inspected and evaluated. “A couple of the things we checked were that the thermoses can keep fluids really warm for a long time. And that the glass mugs and glass pots are durable and comfortable, even though they look and feel light and airy,” says Malin.

For all tastes and different wallets

No matter how you enjoy your cup, you’ll find the things that put an extra flavor to your drink in the range. Another good thing is that there’s something for all wallets. “It’s one of our contributions to a better life at home. A way to improve people’s everyday one cup at a time,” concludes Malin.
