Not as comfy as the old ones.LaszloThe old ones were comfortable unlike these new ones. It is also somewhat overpriced. The cushions are also very thin. The lightness of the chair is great but that is about it. 3
Timeless NicolasI have mine since 2002. Still looks like new.5
Needed sandingGregFor a $300 chair I wasn't expecting to have to sand it. The wood in the arms is gritty and rough like there is sand in the poly or it was just never sanded properly. Kind of disappointing as it's one of the easiest things to quality control for.
Great design though.3
Not for bad backsPeggyEasily the most uncomfortable chair for my back, it is impossible to get out of. I have 2 barely used in a spare room collecting dust.1
Wonderful chair, second time we purchased!BruceThis chair is a wonder. Visually and structurally a work of art, and super comfortable. We have two of these, and they are great for sitting long periods without fatigue. Strong, yet easy to move around the room. And a terrific value - most furniture stores would charge much more for a chair equal to this one (and most stores won't have anything this good).5
Husband’s New Favorite ChairMelanieSince day 1 this is the chair he sits in. Has helped his back and legs5
Quality not greatRyanThe chair is comfortable but the material quality on this model is not great anymore. Owned it for a little over a month and had the left leg section crack and give out while watching tv causing the chair to collapse.1
Comfortable EdVery well designed, comfortable and affordable.5
Looks great from a distance but has a poor finish up close, and not very comfortable for extended times.WilliamI'm quite disappointed at the comfort level of this chair. I spent a good hour in IKEA sitting in various chairs, and probably sat in the Poang for about 15 minutes. It ticked all the boxes, somewhat affordable, delivers decent comfort, and seems easy to assembly.
Well it is easy to assemble, and for short periods it is comfortable enough. However, the wood finish on it is terribly inconsistent. On the armrest portion the edges were quite sharp, and the wood finish would change from soft to rough, overall just unpleasant feeling. Forget about sitting in it to read for a while, the head cushion pushes your head just slightly forward to where it's fine at first but eventually becomes quite irritating.
I do appreciate that IKEA allows returns for the built furniture and will be replacing it with another chair soon.3
Poor quality woodEmmaNot sure where the quality went with this chair. I got the brown wood one and the wood is not smooth at all and gets caught on all my clothes. 2
Very low to floor horrible itchingCloriaThe chair is extremely close to the floor. I also degan horrific itching from the cushion. 1
Everyone’s favorite chairAdeleThis is the favorite chair of everyone in my family. It’s stylish and affordable and comfortable; you can lean back and lounge in it. It was also very easy to put together. 5
Great ChairWilliamThe Poang Chair is a very comfortable chair - it just fits your body. The chair contours remind me of a vintage Japanese NYChair from the 1980's except it is easier to get in and out of. The removable chair cushion makes it easy to change the color / style down the road if you want. I also recommend getting the matching ottoman; it makes the chair even more comfortable. Easy to assemble - everything is supplied including a small wrench.5
“They don’t build ‘em like they used to”StuartI received my chair the other day in a couple boxes and assembled it without issue. The problem is with the material quality. The wood feels almost unfinished and constantly catches on clothing, fabric, and my hands - eventually resulting in a splinter in my palm! Nothing like the other, older, Poang chairs I’ve sat in before. Not sure if this is a defective build, or if it’s the standard now, but feels very poor for a $300 chair.2
Great chairPenelopePerfect simple chair for any room. Comfortable, practical and easy to put together. I love all 3.5
Very nice, but color not what I expectedNancyI love this chair and ottoman. Very comfortable. Color is not what we expected. We ordered the beige and it's more of a grayish bluish color. Otherwise, it looks great in our room!4
Quality not what it used to beSusanI ordered the Poäng with the brown wood. It arrived in a box with all of the wooden pieces loose. Chips on the wood and absolute terrible packaging. Unacceptable! The quality of this chair is nowhere near what it used to be. The wood feels rough to the touch like it wasn’t sanded properly. I owned one many years ago and this is not comparable. Especially since the pieces were loose and there are chips and dents on the wood. IKEA-please do not tell me I can return it at a store. If I lived close to a store I wouldn’t have ordered it. 1
Newer not BetterJosephI have a older version of this chair and it was made with better material (wood) and better finish. There was a little bit of splitter on the the wood and parts didn't align as well. Overall it still a nice comfortable chair. But it's just not built as well as it was in the past.4
Cheaply constructed, defectiveTriciaThey don't make 'em like they used to! The chair had defective parts, including splintering on one of the arms. The day after it was assembled (carefully on a carpet), a chunk fell off. Cushion wouldn't attach to chair properly, so cushion sat upright (away from curve of chair) and would make little Velcro scritchy noises any time I sat on it. Chair cracked ominously anytime I moved, and I'm only 130#.
I finally decided to return it, so I disassembled the chair and got it back perfectly into the box. IKEA had the chair picked up two weeks ago, and promised I'd get confirmation within 24-48 hours. I've called three times in the past two weeks and they just keep saying another 24 hours. Starting to wonder if I'll ever get a refund. 1
Perfect chairJo AnnEasy to assemble, very comfortable clean lines. Especially nice because it is lightweight enough to spend toward TV or tour conversation area. Excellent choices of colors and fabric5
