Better than most, but could be better.Anonymous reviewerThe chair looks nice and is priced lower than many recliners. It’s relatively comfortable, but could be improved with a softer, more natural fabric and the ability to lock in more than one position and to extend the footrest while upright.
Disappointed with qualityStephanieI have long purchased furniture from Ikea. In fact, we are on our second Ektorp couches after we finally wore out the first ones. I was looking for a small recliner for our small living room. I saw this one in the store, tried it to see if I liked it, and purchased one. After a minor spill on the fabric, I followed the instructions to use a damp cloth. Unfortunately, it left a water stain. Any attempt to get rid of it, made it worse. At this point, the chair looks horrible from other minor spills including water. It also has pilled just from sitting on it. I normally am such an advocate for Ikea furniture but this experience leaves me hesitant to purchase anything else.
Long term useBrianHad this for less then two years. Used it every day started to fall apart after a year. The wood frame snapped, small pieces fell off. Had to throw it away at this point. It was good until it started to fall apart.
Great Chair but the covers do not stay on JovelineGreat chair for the value but the arm chair and head covers don’t stay on. IKEA should have designed for them to attach and detach. It is annoying.
Great chairSarahThis is a great chair. Comfortable, easy to put together. Great value. The only thing I would improve is a fabric that is a little bit more resistant to cat claws (as some of the other upholstery options are).
Love the Muren Recliner, don't like the new polyester fabricChristine We love the Muren recliner. The tall back fits our tall bodies perfectly and the small footprint fits perfectly in our smaller family room. We've had this chair for a few years and love it. So we went to buy a second chair, trying to match the one we bought earlier with light tan fabric. The light grey fabric available now is 100% polyester and feels like plastic. Not at all comfy like the cotton. Please bring back the tan cotton fabric or tell us where we can find it! Thank you!
Cut my finger deeplyAnonymous reviewerIf you try to recline this chair to retrieve items that inevitably get caught in the footrest, and you grab it and pull up on the footrest while not sitting in the chair , the extending parts will nearly cut your finger off. Beware.
Second Muren ReclinerNancyMy original Muren Recliner served me well for over five years. It got me through back surgery, knee replacement surgery, a mild case of Covid, and many sleepless nights. It no longer gave me the back support I needed.
I am currently going through chemo treatments for Stage 0 Pancreatic Cancer, and I could not go to the store to buy and bring home my new recliner. I ordered it online with delivery to our house. It was the perfect solution.
I am only 5'1", and the Muren Relciner is the perfect recliner for short people. It is easy to put together, and it is so very comfortable to relax and watch tv, take a nap, or even spend a restless night.
A waste of moneyKerryDon't buy this chair. I bought this chair in light grey. You cannot clean the upholstery. I have tried every kind of cleaner, including a Bissel little green. Nothing, absolutely nothing, works to remove any kind of spot or stain - and this material shows everything. So if you have kids or pets - DON'T buy this chair. I went to the Ikea where I bought the chair to see if they sold a slipcover. The sales person was actually removing the same chair from the sales floor because it had a stain! This is a flawed product and a wasted of money.

Comfortable chair but fabric is a miss with pets SamanthaThis chair is very comfortable and my whole family loves to sit in it but the remman fabric is a miss if you have pets. We have only had it a week and it already looks terrible. The chair would be better with changeable fabrics.
Incredibly poor qualityElisabethI had an earlier version of this recliner that, while the upholstery became uncleanable, was much sturdier. I’ve had this new version in my living room for 3 months and the upholstery is full of snags and last night the bottom part of the recliner snapped as if it were cardboard when I pushed down gently to unrecline it. Not worth $100, much less nearly $500.
Ok - but new version has very cheap coveringThomasThis is my second Muren. I bought this one in the Remmarn light gray fabric. It is a much less comfortable fabric than the one I bought a few years ago. The fabric also seems very thin. The armrest covers slip off constantly especially the one with the pocket. I put in one pen and the cover slipped off. I’ve ordered Velcro fasteners to fix this, but IKEA should’ve chosen a thicker and less slippery fabric, at least for the armrest covers.

Comfortable, looks nice, can't repairRatashaI bought these a couple years ago- two for our living room. The price was good for recliners and the gray matched our current color scheme. The chairs are very comfortable, but I have four teenagers and couldn't withstand them. A few months ago my daughter jumped on the chair and the armrest separately slightly from the chair. I immediately went online to get replacement parts and they don't exist. I tried to even find a similar piece of plastic to no avail. It's a shame that there's no way to repair something so minor- we ended up having to get rid of the chair.
