Perfect size and designDebraUsing this as my fine arts table. It was easy to put together and looks wonderful in my art room.
Misleading Specifications and a Fundamentally Flawed DesignCezeI purchased the IKEA Mittzon standalone desk base based on IKEA’s own product description, which clearly states that the base is compatible with tabletops measuring 47”, 55”, and 63”. This information is incorrect. I hired two separate handymen to assemble this desk, one of them through TaskRabbit. In both cases, assembly had to be stopped halfway because the legs on the base are not long or wide enough to properly support the 55” or 63” tabletops. The structure is unstable and cannot safely sustain the weight as advertised. After contacting IKEA, I was told the base might be defective and advised to exchange it. I returned the first base and received a replacement. The second base had the exact same issue. This confirms that the problem is not an isolated defect, but a design or manufacturing flaw. This kind of instability poses a real safety risk. I would advise against purchasing this product for any tabletop longer than 47".
Solid basic computer deskFelixThe desk is sturdy and the cable contain area under the table is fabric, flexible and large enough to hold your cables. Have that versus a rigid tray is a plus. I would give it 5 stars if it had a drawer. For a price a drawer or some storage would have been ideal. Directions to assemble are clear and easy to follow.

Work and Hobby DeskAnonymous reviewerJust set up this desk and so far I’m quite pleased, there’s very little wobble and even when there is I’m putting a decent amount of force into it so no concerns of wobbling while I do work. Installing was fairly easy with a few parts that were slightly harder however those were the parts that is recommended for two people while I assembled it alone. The only part that I have concern for is the cable management as it is made of cloth but we will see how it holds up over time.
In terms of appearance it is a bit lighter than what’s shown in photo (Dark Walnut Top) but it is close enough for me not to mind too much as it still fits with what I plan for my workspace.
Overall I am happy with this purchase so far and look forward to seeing how it holds up to time.
Strange dusty smellTriciaThe desk is great but I’m noticing a dusty smell that hurts my throat. Anyone else? I have the oak veneer with white bottom. I’ve had it for about two weeks. I’ve wiped it with a damp cloth, removed the wool cable holder and tried airing it out. My air purifier is right next to it. Still smells.
