The idea with MISTERHULT was to make a lamp with a minimal environmental footprint. By letting bamboo, that otherwise would be discarded, enhance the lamp’s expression, we harness the plant more than twice as much.

Each lamp is unique since it is made of bamboo with natural color variations and is hand-woven by skilled craftspeople.
When we developed the MISTERHULT lamp series, we let parts of the bamboo plant, that otherwise would be discarded, become part of the expression ― meaning we harness each plant more than twice as much.

Problems with the cordAnonymous reviewerThe lamp shade is gorgeous. It’s beautiful and gave a very boho vibe to our dinner room. Unfortunately we experienced a problem with the cord when we connected it to the electricity. The first time it gave us a spark so we thought we installed it wrongly. We then took everything off and did it again (we double check the wires were rightly installed). When we turned the lights on, a spark again.
We are pretty sure that is not something related to our installation because the lamp that we intended to replace for this one was working perfectly fine for over 5 years.
We don’t want to take the risk and we are returning it.

Gorgeous and well madeValentinaI didn’t expect such effect the pendant made in our vaulted ceiling stairway. I’m picky when it comes to quality or generally find some imperfections. None noted here. Highly recommend & installation was easy, same as any other IKEA light fixture.
Adds character!CarolWe just love this light. It is over a table and just looks fabulous. Easy to install. We like the inner part of the light that covers the light bulb, it diffuses the light a little bit. Great light!
Beautiful, the whole room looks differentSusanI replaced an old chandelier with this lamp. Easy install. Looks great in my Japandi style dining room. Dimmable, looks good on or off. Well made, looks like a $300 lamp. I drove 3 hours from New Bern to buy it and am very glad I did.
Fail to stay joinedWentingI tried many times, but this ceiling light won't stay joined. I checked its instruction and online images many times to make sure I installed this light correctly. It just still failed to join.
Chic and easy to installAlexandraWe put this light in our home office and I love the way this ceiling lamp looks with the light on or off. when the light it on, it reflects a pretty pattern on the ceiling and during the day it looks like an awesome statement piece without being too large like another similar option at ikea.

We absolutely love this lampChristinaI wish I could add the photo we took to show how beautiful this is. We added a ceiling medallion as well. It took a bit of finagling but turned out amazing!! We purchased a house built in the early 70’s and this really made the dining room pop! The shadows and light that the lamp casts is very beautiful. Well worth the money and would purchase 100 times again!!!

What is bamboo?
Strong, flexible and one of the world's fastest growing plants – bamboo has many uses that make it an excellent renewable material. It’s a type of grass and usually grows without the need for fertilizers or irrigation. After being harvested, it grows new shoots that are ready for harvesting after 4-6 years. At IKEA, we use bamboo for items like furniture, bathroom decor, baskets and lamps – and we are constantly exploring more areas of use for this versatile material.
