Is it just me or does these pots emit a foul chemical smell every time they are used?????JazzminLet’s start first with the foul chemical smell. It can’t just be me, every time I cook with these it emits a smell that can’t possibly be food safe. These pots emit a strange smell, that I have never encountered with any of my other ikea cookware. Also the handles, are not heat resistant. These are not safe for myself or my kids to use. The handles are piping hot, again never has happened with any of my other ikea cookware. Really concerned about both these items. IKEA what’s going on????1

From MeSalThis set is very pretty in terms of size and functions well. However, I thought that because the handles were not high heat resistance quality, attached separately they would get hot. They get very hot. I am going to purchase some slip on some handle covers for protection from the heat and hope I can find some that work well and are attractive with the set.4

What is stainless steel?

Stainless steel is found in everything from building structures and cars to sinks and knives. It’s easy to see why it has so many uses. Stainless steel is hard and durable and has good resistance to corrosion – namely rust. It generally has a low nickel content, and for IKEA products we mainly use stainless steel that’s nickel-free. Like many other metals, it can be recycled again and again to become new, hardwearing items – without losing its valuable properties.

"When designing MIDDAGSMAT, I wanted to make a series with all the basic functions for trouble-free everyday cooking. I used simple and basic shapes like circles and ovals to create knobs and handles with generous and soft lines that provide a good grip – while also adding a lot of character. I hope that many people will appreciate the timeless design and that items in the MIDDAGSMAT series will be faithful companions in the kitchen for many years to come."
