Wish it was 5 starsCindy R.I purchased the lamp intending to use in our RV. It’s the perfect size, and lightweight. However it hums constantly and in a small space would drive me crazy. Customer service is sending a replacement to try. Fingers crossed that the next one operates silently!3

Mine came with the bulb, the compact little package encased in plastic. I couldn't believe how easy it was to assemble! I picked mine out of a sale bin, and wish I'd purchased at least two. It is currently not available at my store or via delivery --I hope it is not being phased out? The Lampan lamp is definitely one of the cutest, most practical, and most amusing items in IKEA's repertoire!5

Under Product Details, it says "This product can expose you to chemicals including lead." If this is true, why is this allowed? Hopefully it's a tiny amount of lead? Very concerned, as it's often used in kids' rooms.5
Easy LampRobinMy two teenage boys broke their $30 lamp, so I replaced it with this inexpensive one. I like that this lamp provides a nice, soft light, bright enough to read by, but not so bright it burns your retinas. I love that the TOP of the lamp is covered so that you don't look directly at the bulb, even if you are standing over it. This is a nice feature because we use it on a low table.4

Lamp never arrivedVerified BuyerI have used this before and it is a nice simple ambient lamp which is what I needed. FedEx says it was delivered but it was not at my address and I also got another package that day too. Did not really try to deal with calling and some a $10 lamp once the store reopens I will just pick it up in person3

Don't forget the bulb! Bulb only sold at IKEA.BilzThe bulb is not included and it takes a very strange bulb. It is sold at IKEA and make sure you get it in the store at IKEA because you will not find it in other stores. The bulb is a special low energy bulb that is common to Europe, but that is difficult to locate in the U.S. Good thing IKEA does stock it. I have had this lamp for 8 years now and the bulb still works great! It is a good product for the price, just don't forget the bulb when buying it in IKEA.5
LIGHTBULB NOT INCLUDEDBri53I really wanted to like this lamp. My dad got it as a gift for my daughter for her big kid bedroom set. It says it is supposed to come with a bulb but there is none. To make matters worse, there isn't even a specification in the product description as to what bulb it needs. Can't take it back because there is no receipt since it was a gift and the store has been unhelpful in getting this resolved. Great paperweight I guess.....1
Fine little bedroom lampZephyr3What a cute little lamp! I came to the website to order another one at the sale price but of course it's a month later and the price is back to normal. No worries, I enjoy it enough to get it at full price. I would not recommend for a child's room, as it is not a toy and not sturdy enough to be used by a kid. But for a 45 year old woman who just wants a little bedroom light that's calm and not blazingly bright, it's just right. I have a 25 watt bulb in it (from WalMart) and the dimmer lighting signals my brain that it's time to go rest. The package says excludes bulb. It's just a bulb with a candlabra base. You could even use a nightlight bulb but that's really dim. Anyway, I am so happy with it, I'm getting another!5
LampBarger7I thought this lamp came with the light bulb like it said. But it did not come with a light bulb and I can not find one for it. If I lived close to an IKEA store I would return it because I’m unable to use it. On the site I can not even find out what kind of bulb it takes.1

It's advertised as an LED lamp, the web description says bulb included. in the middle of moving so difficult to go back to IKEA1

Story

Our take on plastic

Plastic is a key material for IKEA, and remains so going forward. It is strong, durable, lightweight and versatile. It is a main component in a large amount of our products and has a wide variety of applications from surface materials such as paint and foil, to screws and shelf pegs. There is a lot of valid concern regarding how plastic impacts the environment and at IKEA we take this very seriously. As part of our larger circular journey and transition from virgin fossil based material, we are working hard to change all plastic in our home furnishing products to plastic made from recycled and/or renewable raw materials.

Only recycled or renewable plastics

Plastic is most commonly derived from oil and gas, which are non-renewable fossil sources. These sources do not renew themselves and will eventually be depleted. Our ambition is that by 2030, all plastic used in our products will be based on renewable or recycled materials. Renewable plastic is made from materials such as vegetable oil, corn, wheat grain and sugar cane. Recycled plastic allows us to give a second life to non-biodegradable products such as PET bottles that would otherwise end up in landfill. Using recyclable sources also lessens our dependency on oil as a raw material. Currently more than 40% of our plastic products are based on recycled and renewable materials and our aim is to reach 100%. As we add products made from recycled and renewable materials to our offer, we hope to inspire other companies to do the same.

Phasing out single-use plastics

Single-use plastic items pollute ecosystems if not disposed of responsibly. As part of our commitment to people and the planet, all single-use plastic products from the global home furnishing range were phased out in 2020. This includes items such as plates, cups, and plastic straws offered in our restaurants, bistros, and cafes. These were replaced by disposables made from 100% renewable sources.

PET and PP our most commonly used plastics

Polythylene terephthalate (PET) and Polypropylene (PP) are durable, hygienic and shatter-resistant plastics. They absorb very little water and have good chemical resistance. Both PET and PP can be reused and recycled, which reduces waste and gives the product several lives through use and reuse. PET is the most recycled plastic in the world and can be used for many different purposes such as plastic bottles and containers for packaging food and beverages as well as for personal care products, pharmaceuticals and many other consumer products. At IKEA we mainly use recycled PET in boxes, filling material for textiles and kitchen front foil. PET is approved by health-agencies as safe to use for food and beverage. IKEA uses recycled PET that is post-consumer based, which means it is based on collected and sorted PET bottles.

Clean and safe

IKEA takes product safety very seriously and all products are tested and comply with the strictest possible laws and safety standards on all IKEA markets. Customers should always feel confident that products bought at IKEA are safe and healthy to use. IKEA wants to minimize or totally refrain from the use of chemicals and substances that can be harmful to people and the environment.

Together, we can do more

Our journey towards only using recycled or renewable plastic will take some time and require new ways of doing things, but we are determined to take responsibility and find new solutions. We want to give our customers the possibility to choose products made from more sustainable materials that can be recycled again one day. Together, we can make a big difference!
