Insanely hard to install AmitThis item just hasn't been designed well. The fixture bracket isn't standard size, so it needs an adapter. The wires provided are too short to provide any room for adjustment. Avoid like the plague.
Pretty lamp, unclear directions leads to double workSamanthaMost simple light boxes in the U.S. are 3.5 inches. This plate is knocked out for a 4 inch box with no option to go smaller, like most other plates that come with light fixtures in the United States. Nowhere in the description of the product or directions does it indicate what the measurements of the ceiling box should be. This leads to needing to buy extra equipment and do extra work, regardless of whether you choose to install a larger box in your ceiling or find an alternative plate for the light. The cover also does not fall down far enough; I bought two IKEA fans and the covers fell all the way down to the motor, which left ample room for working with the wires. I have very small hands and still found it very difficult to work with and see what I was doing. This was exacerbated by the fact that the wires coming from the light itself are extremely short; again on the fans I purchased they’re almost 50% longer.
Worth the troubleRobinFolks, we needed to figure out a hack to install this light because the plate included was too big for the small box in our ceiling. We had to hit up the hardware store to purchase a different hook. It was definitely worth the trouble. But a headache before we figured it out.
Beautiful lamp, very difficult to installMarkThe look of the lamp is really nice, I have a two complaints about the design concerning installation.
1. The wires are much too short, you're supposed to feed it through the hole and then connect it to the wires in the ceiling. I had to cut the cloth almost all the way to get enough space in-between the live and neutral wires. The ground wire is fine.
2. The length of the neck is insufficient and the housing gets in the way of installation. The diagrams on the instructions show a very different lamp than what I'm working with. I can't screw in the final screw to make the plate flush with the ceiling. It's really frustrating.
Overall I'm not sure I'd recommend this lamp, we're going to keep it and I'm going to see right angle attachment solves my installation problem.
