FragileKatrinaI was mixing salt into the water in this jar and it shattered from a spoon tapping on the inside (with water! which must have softened the hit, and I was mixing it pretty carefully overall), I did not expect the glass to be so fragile. I feel like they used to make those jars from thicker glass. But the other one I have is still fine just now I know to be super gentle with it.3
It’s really convenient jarZhibekI like5
It seals in foodMichaelHello...I bought this to keep coffee grounds fresh...it does a great job as the seal is tight...5
great so farSamarraPerfect size5
A declines in quality of the rubberCecyliaKORKEN Jar Rubber Seals: The rubber seals for the KORKEN jars seem thinner and less robust than before. They degrade faster, becoming sticky or falling apart after a year, which affects the jars’ functionality and requires frequent replacements. Better before 20253
Nostalgic!KimThis jar is charming and functional. Its quality construction is only matched by its affordable price point. I purchased several for my new home. It’s a great upscale farmhouse style that adds a touch of class to any kitchen, bathroom or office space. A+.5
Love these jars!BarbaraI purchased these jars in the various sizes and find them extremely useful. I appreciate that they are not plastic.5

Great JarJustinLocking lid is perfect.5
Just what I neededKathyI've been slowly switching from plastic to glass. These hold quite a bit but still small enough to fit in my cupboard or the fridge.5
The best jar that protects products such as, MilkGregoryThe jars were easy to use and has proven the milk left inside lasts much longer than expected.5
Great Solid ItemKerriWashes well in DW, no issues and super thick glass, perfect for storing anything. Will continue to buy more!5
Pickling everything JoyaWe are using the jars for pickling fresh veggies. 5
lid not tight enoughJudithi wanted this to pickle but the lid did not support the air pressure. 1
Nice JarLisaThis works really great for pickled onions or pickles!5
Korken, jar with lid 34 ozBerniFunctional and just right for storage. 4
Carcinogenic gasketMatthewThe glass jar itself appears to be well made. I originally purchased this to store pickled items in the fridge - until I read the insert in the jar and did some research. 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, found in the gasket, is definitively linked to higher cancer risks by many healthcare organizations. I can't justify using this jar versus a mason jar or something safer. I also find it strange a company like IKEA would sell a product with this insert and advertise it for food storage. Needless to say, I'll be double-checking my IKEA food-related product purchases for now on.2
Glass jarIreneI use this glass jar because it keeps my nuts fresher5
Great Quart JarWilliamI use this larger jar for my fruit liquids for Jam/jelly making. This work great!5
Not the 'Clean' alternative I was looking forJulieI bought several of these as they are glass to reduce my exposure to toxins. Upon closer inspection of the label I noted these products contain a probable carcinogen, albeit most likely contained to the rubber gasket. I'm not an expert but it seems like a food safe silicone gasket would be a better choice for this product. I will probably return these for something else.3

Preserving food and all its flavor

KORKEN jars are ideal for preserving jams, pickles or other homemade treats. The aroma-tight seal helps to lock in flavor and since the jars are made of glass, you can easily see what’s inside, increasing the chance that food gets eaten and not thrown away.

Material

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda, and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
