Even though my 18# cat sleeps on top of me. So I would say this works well. It doesn’t’ really feel cool to the touch once you climb in bed, but it works. I don’t worry about the keep warm part in the winter because I have the cat. And I can always keep it on the cold side. 5

Not much cooler, not sized well EricMaybe it's mattress size dependent, but the protector does not line up with mine. The corners with the straps stretch to the mattress', but the rest of it is like an inch or two inset on every side.
The color also shows through my white sheets, so the unevenness makes the aesthetic look worse.
While it is cool at first touch, like every other cooling foam/material, it matches your body temp pretty quick. It does stay cooler longer than my mattress with generic thin protector though. It's an overall positive in cooling.
The warm flip side might do better come winter, since it's just like an extra layer of a thin throw under you.
It also does fit a roughly 16 inch mattress. The fine print on the website is accurate, but the fine print on the packaging itself surprisingly says only 13 inch max, which is wrong.3
The material makes this mattress pad uncomfortable and hot.MargaretI should have looked for a pad made with cotton. This one is polyester.1
Excellent multi use productMaddieGreat! The cooling side is cooling and the warm side is warm. Excellent for small spaces where you don’t have a lot of storage. Can’t wait to use the warm side in Chicago when it gets freezing.
Really hope IKEA does not discontinue this item! There’s nothing else quite like this on the market and at this price. 5
Very neat itemRebeccaAt first, I was skeptical. Then I found it in my local store. I put my hand on the cooling side, and was blown away by how chilly it was! I immediately flipped it over for the warmer side and felt that. Nice and toasty warm.
I called my friend over so they could feel it. My friend couldn't believe someone finally figured how make a cooling and toasty warm pad in one. I then sent a text of the item to mother who lives in Las Vegas and frequently has family visit. I recommended these for the guest bedrooms.5
Cool and comfortableAnonymous reviewerAs a general rule, I've found most IKEA bedding to be stylish, comfortable, and budget friendly. However, some bedding products that IKEA advertises as "cooling" just aren't, and I have had to return some. This one, however, works exactly as advertised. My body is like a furnace in bed, and this mattress topper, coupled with some high thread count IKEA sheets and duvet covers, keeps me cool as a cucumber. I can turn off the a/c and open the windows even during these warm summer nights. I also like that it's got some padding to it which adds a bit of comfort in addition to the cooling effect. It's a little pricy for IKEA, but I don't regret the purchase one bit.5
Mattress Cover -- Too HotLisaI prefer 100% cotton for a mattress protector. This is water proof so it has fabric that is not natural. It is very hot. 3
