Insert is repositionableBlahajI like that felt strips are used instead of screws. This allows me to pull it out and slot into another cube. Which I did.
I couldn't find measurements online so I'll provide my own here:
12 5/8" wide,
6 7/16" tall for the top shelf,
6 3/8" tall for the bottom shelf.
The difference in height from the two shelves looks to be from manufacturing tolerance, combined with the tiny gap left above the side panels. The shelf is level, and the difference in height isn't visible to the eye, that is what's important.

Wrong Size ListedOliviaThe size they listed is inaccurate. Rather than 13", one side is 13 and 3/10ths. Doesn't actually fit in my cubby system which is 13x13x15
A great additionKathrynWe love this shelf as it helps separate our games from other toys in a single cubby, almost giving us more space.
Tight fit.. a little TOO tightAnI got what I was expecting; an insert that divided one of the Kallax's "cubes" into two for organization purposes. However! It was an extremely tight fit. I wasn't able to fit one of my inserts into the shelves I wanted horizontally. The cushioning material you stick onto the sides were too thick and didn't give enough give for me to push into.
Given that I was able to fit it after turning it, I'm assuming that the fault was mostly on my KALLAX shelf rather than this insert, but I wouldn't have had this issue if the insert was made even a millimeter tighter than it is.
Good shelf dividerNeetikaIt divides the shelf into halves, only useful if you are separating items to store in one cube. As the height of the shelf cube reduces and you can mostly lay things flat like files, books or craft papers etc.

Perfect for CD CollectionPattiI have a large album and CD collection. Kallax is perfect for the albums and the accessory piece that divides a unit is perfect for the CDs. Originally this item only came in white, I was so excited when other colors were added. Easy to install, and everything is so well organized.
Love it, needs accessories…JasmineI love the idea of being able to use more of the vertical space in the Kallax cubes, however, it would be nice if IKEA released Branas baskets that fit these “half shelves”. That would make this set up ideal.

Love these what a cool invention LeeI am in the process of redoing my spare room into an art studio n such n let me say I needed dividers n when I looked up what I could use to accomplish this task theses came up the simple ease of putting them together and sliding them in they work awesomely work much better than I expected the cost was just right as well I need to get a few more thanks ikea I put them inside a black kallax cubby I love the wood color it also looks cool in the white kallax cubbies as well it gives them some depth

Cheap, bigger than 13x13Anonymous reviewerThe design is fabulous, the concept is great, the parts are cheap, and the hardware includes plastic parts.
They are not 13x13, they are 13.25x13.25. They do NOT fit into other shelf units.
Better Homes and Garden makes a superior shelf unit but these inserts from IKEA will not fit into them. Expensive mistake undiscovered until the drawers were assembled. Same with the shelf divider. Thankfully, I didn't open the one with the cabinet door.
What a waste.
Some of the particle board parts were already damaged in small spots. I have photos.
