In reality, I was sad to see that it leaves over half a centimeter gap, and to add to this disappointment, when assembled it isn’t very stable. I’m guessing the lack of stability wouldn’t have been an issue if it had got in snugly as promised.

Insert is repositionableBlahajI like that felt strips are used instead of screws. This allows me to pull it out and slot into another cube. Which I did.
I couldn't find measurements online so I'll provide my own here:
12 5/8" wide,
6 7/16" tall for the top shelf,
6 3/8" tall for the bottom shelf.
The difference in height from the two shelves looks to be from manufacturing tolerance, combined with the tiny gap left above the side panels. The shelf is level, and the difference in height isn't visible to the eye, that is what's important.

Wrong Size ListedOliviaThe size they listed is inaccurate. Rather than 13", one side is 13 and 3/10ths. Doesn't actually fit in my cubby system which is 13x13x15
A great additionKathrynWe love this shelf as it helps separate our games from other toys in a single cubby, almost giving us more space.
Tight fit.. a little TOO tightAnI got what I was expecting; an insert that divided one of the Kallax's "cubes" into two for organization purposes. However! It was an extremely tight fit. I wasn't able to fit one of my inserts into the shelves I wanted horizontally. The cushioning material you stick onto the sides were too thick and didn't give enough give for me to push into.
Given that I was able to fit it after turning it, I'm assuming that the fault was mostly on my KALLAX shelf rather than this insert, but I wouldn't have had this issue if the insert was made even a millimeter tighter than it is.
Good shelf dividerNeetikaIt divides the shelf into halves, only useful if you are separating items to store in one cube. As the height of the shelf cube reduces and you can mostly lay things flat like files, books or craft papers etc.
