Challenging Installation AllisonThis ceiling light is very nice. I definitely like the style of this light. I’ve connected everything, but am having an extremely hard time attaching the base of the light to the electrical box. It isn’t easy because I can’t see anything! Please provide customers with an easier way to attach the base to the ceiling (provide hardware, longer bolts or 2 different slots on the base for easier installation).3
Style, function, and valueSethThis ceiling light was very easy to install. It casts a bright, even light with three standard-sized 800 lumen LED light bulbs (not included). The base that screws to the ceiling is white painted metal. The shade is a single molded piece of plastic that looks like milk glass. It's a stylish fixture that looks great for the price.5
Very nice light, but know what you're gettingIleneWe really like this light, but if you have an older electrical box, you may need to make adjustments (we used our existing plate and had to drill to the plaster because the hole wasn't big enough). We wanted a plastic light that looks like glass, and this fit the bill. The light is diffused but bright and lovely for a laundry room. The original light we had fell to the ground when we didn't realize the glass had become damaged, and cleaning glass from under machines into the corners was awful. This light can easily be unscrewed to change bulbs and clean. If it were easier to install it would be five stars.4
Plastic-y plastic DesireeExtremely cheap looking — smells 2
Misleading pictureMattAll one color. The picture makes it look like the shade and bulb housing are different shades of white. In person its all one color of plastic1
Arrived scratchedMariaThe lamp is OK, but there seems to be an issue with packaging. The plastic “opal glass” plastic shade arrived scratched/abraded, and I am not sure it would be different if I picked it up at a store. It seems to rub agains the cardboard box and get those scratches. I was tempted to persuade myself that they won’t be visible once I mount it, but it’s quite likely tgat they will be visible in certain natural light conditions when the lamp is off.
Another quality issue not related to packaging is a rough edge of the outer shade. But this should be easy to sand down with a sponge (probably something like 120 grit) or emery board.
Unlike glass, plastic will catch dust more easily because of static electricity, but the build of the removable part mskes it easy to wash with soap and sponge every now and then.4
Simple, great for the priceMarsieSimple silhoutte. An inexpensive way to update outdated builder-grade light fixtures.5
Looks nothing like the photoBruceThe photo makes this look like a two piece fixture of inner and outer shades. It’s not. It’s one hunk of white plastic. None of these were on display and the boxes were sealed. I should have known better. Going back to the store.1
Not good.MarthaNot easy to install with older type electrical box. Multiple trips to hardware store for electrical plate, then screws. Once installed 2 of the Solhetta bulbs popped. Now going to store to buy a simple flush light that includes all I need to install it.2
Exceeded ExpectationsLaurenThese lights are terrific! They are very good looking -- not at all plastic-y looking, though plastic -- and put out really nice, flattering warm light. We installed two in a bathroom and installation was very quick and easy. We used two bulbs in each, as three more light than needed. They look much more expensive than they are. Would use again and highly recommend!5
