major downgradeSarahWe bought this peeler 10 years ago and it was the best peeler EVER. Extremely sharp and satisfying to use. Any time guests would use it, they'd always say, "This peeler works really well!" and I'd say, "Yep, it's from IKEA!" We really didn't need a replacement as it is still going strong 10 years later, but since we happened to be there we figured, hey why not grab another one? I was even thinking of buying some to give as gifts, because they're that good. So we brought the new one home and realized it was about half the weight of the first one. Then I tried it. Sadly, it is dull and useless. What a bummer.
Please bring the old peeler back and I will happily update my review!

updated version is a huge disappointmentNealI originally purchased this peeler several years ago and was blown away by the quality. It was heavy in the hand but perfectly balanced. That original peeler was lost, so I ordered two replacements just to have a spare around. That's how much I loved this peeler. The new peelers arrived and they are a pale imitation of the original version. I would guess that newer version weighs about a third as much. I'm incredibly disappointed.

Finish washes away.CheriSilver color washed away on backside, after using perhaps 3 times. Under metal is copper on part opposite of blade. Material not listed as being copper. Do not recommend, cannot be sure of what you are buying.

This affects its usability and comfort, making it less effective for daily use. The old one, was the better peeler than I used in my life. The quality go down after covid , especially since 2025
It is not the same!PattyI bought this peeler several years ago and loved it so much that I bought everyone in my family one for Christmas. I recently lost mine while on vacation. Yes, I loved it so much that I take it with me when we rent a house for a week. I went back to my local IKEA to replace it and found that it is now much lighter. I bought it anyway, but I am so sad that it has changed. This peeler is so much lighter that it doesn't sit well in the hand. The balance point is about where the handle joins to the metal and this makes the peeler want to tip out of your hand when using it. You have to consciously hold tighter onto the handle to keep it in hand. The previous version of the peeler was ergonomically perfect. This new lightweight imposter is horrid! Just picking it up makes me angry. Why did IKEA redesign this item?
Change the matter not heavy at allZarinI used to love that peeler. I gave mine to my mom. That’s why i came again to buy another one. But i was sooo heartbroken to see they change the product. It’s not heavy anymore. I hate it.
