Reviews
Color Is Not AccurateJeffThis is a pretty sturdy piece, and the delivery was great. The problem I consistently have with IKEA furniture is that the colors in the photos never match the actual colors of the products received. We ordered a few pieces in “Black Brown”. Across the IKEA site, Black Brown is depicted as anywhere from a rich chocolate brown, to a near black. We were hoping for the warm/ reddish hue shown in this product’s photo. For one piece, the color is definitely a true neutral brown with no warm hues, and for another the color might as well be called black. Maybe providing a few HEX codes for the colors found in the wood/ veneer of each product would be more helpful to buyers? Getting this large piece back to IKEA for a return would be more trouble than its worth, so it’ll have to do for now until we get around to sanding/ painting a more complementary color. For that reason, the value for what we paid + the labor we’ll have to put in to get it right is disappointing.2
Entertainment center projectChristianIt took some time to assemble and I highly recommend doing it with the kids absent, but it looks fantastic! The instructions could be clearer on items that appear very similar but have important subtle differences that are only found during later steps.5
Not the Hemnes of Old.DwayneThe engineering is somewhat thin compared to prior hemnes I have bought over the years (I think we have purchased 9 pieces). The quality of the wood was surprising - one of the pegs supporting the middle shelf pulled out when I tightened it, and I have never seen this before. I still like the enduring Farmhouse look, the ability to purchase matching pieces over years, and I prefer products featuring intact rather than remanufactured wood, so still lots to recommend, particularly if you are handy and can fix any imperfections.4
