Color isnt even close! It's black. A very flat grey/black.KevinMy Son put this together while I wasnt home. When I saw it my first thought was that I ordered the wrong one. Nope. I ordered the "Dark Brown". This thing is a flat, muted black with a slight hue of brown. Its looks nothing like the photos. Monitor variation...blah blah. No! I have some Black-Brown Hemnes units that match their product photos perfectly and are clearly brown with black. And its so flat that it almost seems like primer. Almost chalky. No gloss, no semi, no eggshell. Flat dark grey. Everything that touches it leaves a smudge/mark. Horrible finish for the $. My entire family said it was black when asked. Assembly was fine up until you get to attaching the doors. The hinges have flat-tipped screws that are probably 3 - 4 times the holes they are supposed to line up with. Good luck with that! I realize they didnt want the point to poke thru, but they could have drilled 1/8" in with a larger bit to catch the screws. Wont be buying Ikea furniture again anytime soon.2
Love these!!MicheleThese Havsta cabinets were soooo very easy to put together. We are older, so we were a bit concerned with the weight, but honestly these are so well built the weight wasn't a problem!5
Cheap material, pain to assembleMichaelThe set looks good overall at a distance, but all of the materials are cheap and flimsy. Assembly is OK through most of it, but god help you once you start working on the doors. The screws for the L-stoppers would rather strip five times over than go in all the way, and getting the hinges on isn't much easier.3
Love these!!MicheleThese Havsta cabinets were soooo very easy to put together. We are older, so we were a bit concerned with the weight, but honestly these are so well built the weight wasn't a problem!5
Excellent except...FredWe loved the cabinets but as mentioned by another reviewer, the hinges (especially on the uppers) are a nightmare to get screwed into the frame. The screws bind on the hinge holes and the tips are too broad relative to the pre-drilled holes. I had to purchase alternative screws (#8 - 5/8" and 3/4") to complete the installation.4
Amazing pieceAntonellaFirst time ordering from IKEA. I wanted a built in in my office and the custom prices were outrageous! So I started searching on line and came across this piece! I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! Not only is is SOLID wood, but it is so well made and was so easy to assemble, I did it myself! The piece together is stunning! I am beyond ecstatic5
Stunning pieceAndreaI purchased this 2 years ago and still love it. I put it in my dining room/office and its filled with house files and decore, very spacious. Easy assemble. I decided to keep 1 top. shelf off to put printer on top of a bottom cabinet so my son has a cabinet to display his toys in his room that looks great as well. Im actually buying another top cabinet for more toys in his room. This piece was worth every penny and I couldn't be happier.5
Havsta - almost perfectDeborahI love the look, and the fact that it is real wood. Assembly was smooth and went well until I got to the hinges. I could not get the screws in at all. They aligned well, but were stuck. The only solution was to use a power driver and run each screw back and forth to ream the hole better. Now I will attempt to install them. Everything up to this step went so well I had all of the cabinets up in a (full) day. Except the door installation.4
Well Built Cabinets!!JulianaGreat cabinets - very well built and LOTS of storage. It fits perfectly in my space...I couldn't be happier!5
Great pieceVerified BuyerEasy to assemble. Looks great. Holds a lot more than I expected. Only improvement would be to add pre-drilled holes in the upper cabinet to change the shelf height5
Great looking - Low profile storageVerified BuyerWe needed to add storage to our new condo which was woefully inadequate. Though this unit isn’t as deep as adding kitchen cabinets it has tons of storage space with its 18” depth lower units and 14” uppers. Love how it takes up minimal space and pairs well with our urban farmhouse kitchen.5
Solid wood! Need I say more?Verified BuyerCannot say enough good things about my havsta cabinets. Did a whole wall (12’ long) with these in my office and I couldn’t be happier. Not to mention that solid wood is better than particleboard so I expect these to last longer than me. Easy to put together, and looks are stunning.5
This is beautiful!KristieAs other reviewers said, this is solid wood and it does look like a built-in. I bought this in gray and use it as a bar. I have had several people express surprise when I told them it came from Ikea. And it was no more difficult to put together than any other piece of Ikea furniture. We love it!5
People Thought It Was A Built-InTarynThis cabinet piece is so perfect that guests thought it was a built in. Needed something that looked nice in the main living room while fixing a non-storage issue. I can easily hide all large board games and office supplies in the bottom while display pictures in the top. Easy to put together, give it time, and LOVE this piece in the home. Worth it.5
Love the lookConnieWe bought this unit for our kitchen area. It looks like it is a built in. It is very sturdy. I love the look!5
Not worth 1080Verified BuyerJust got it delivered. Nice cabinet, but the color is more of a black than dark brown. Also, scratches too easily. i spent more than 1k on this and expected it to be of a higher quality. Also if you buy, set aside about 7 hours to fully assemble it.2
Not bad for the priceVerified BuyerLiked that it is solid wood! The finish does mar pretty easily and it has been hard to get the doors to line up just right. But overall, it's decent, especially for a nice big bookcase not made of particleboard.4

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.
