BookcaseLinda N.Pleased with bookcase5
High end lookAndreaThese book shelves are a nice quality- made of real wood. I pushed 3 together to create a book wall and they look great and hold lots of books5
Looks great and fits perfectlyHeatherI purchased 2 of these with the matching tv stand and they fit perfectly on my wall. Everything is solid wood, not often found with "build yourself" furniture. The color is closer to black than dark brown but I love it even more than I would have liked a brown. It looks amazing against the brick wall giving just the right balance in colors. It is nice and tall and solid. I was able to put these together by myself and I am only 5'2". There are only 2 times a second person is needed but can be worked around.5
Quality bookcaseJennyI was very happy with the quality of the Havsta bookcases. Putting them together was easy. Instructions were very clear.5
PERRRRRFECT size case!PennyEasy to put together, the perfect size for a small space AND tall enough to make it really efficient. Styling is good for traditional and modern. The bottom deeper depth is practical and provides extra stability too. So right.5
Good quality for valueJenniferThis shelf was easy to build and looks beautiful.5
Very attractive and functionalDeniseI like the furniture even better after I received a price adjustment since it went on sale right after we bought it. We added crown molding to the top of each bookcase, was just what they needed. Also added a shelf between the bookcases over the base cabinet, just tied everything together nicely. Love it!5
Fits perfect in the spaceJuanitaFits perfect in the space we needed!5
Nice bookcase-lots of cardboard & packingMarkI would rate the book case as very nice, typical Ikea. Assembly was the usual Ikea pita, but all parts fit with no problems. Took me a couple of hours - it's much easier with better tools like a ratchet or power screwdriver. This is packaged in two boxes (one very long - the height of the unit.). The two generated a large, maybe shocking amount of cardboard waste. In addition to the boxes there is quite a bit of internal packing material. Yeah... all recyclable, but after cutting it up to small pieces and collapsing the packing it still took almost half of my weekly recycling bin. There must be a better way, but I don't know what it is. So down one star for the mess made.4
Nice looking display area for entertainment wallDarlynnTwo of these along with a cabinet make up new entertainment center area. Shelves are solid wood, easy to put together and unique with the two widths. Looks great. With the height, two people or some other way to hold the top up until it has supports is needed.5
HavastaJeremyLove these bookshelves. I like that the backs are open and you can see the wall and access outlets.5
Not too difficultPatrickAssembled in less than an hour. Recommended two people but can be done solo if you're careful.5
Nice shelving systemMayureshWell made and easy to put together. Using it for shelving in pantry and fits lot of stuff.5
Great book shelfCaseyI like that it's actually solid wood, not particle board. I finally decided to start adulting and have been buying these bookshelves to replace my old cheap particle board ones that were falling apart and sagging from the weight of all my books. I also like the ability to adjust the base to keep the shelves level . We've had some foundation work on the home so our floors aren't completely flat so being able to make those adjustments without having to shove something under the bookcase is very nice. The larger base is also let me store some larger books as well as board games easily. I'm on my 9th havsta shelf with plans to get a few more.5
Worth every centNancyAn excellent bookcase for the money, it now comes in color options. I have six of them.5
Solid pine bookshelvesMarianneFinally, after waiting over a year for this item to be in stock, I ordered three of them and had them delivered. My new library corner looks great. I was sorry the price increased substantially between my first attempts to order them (just after COVID upended everyone's lives) and when they were finally in stock again but that's just the way things are right now. I especially appreciate that these shelves are made from sustainably produced solid pine.5
Great workingAleksandrIt works nice, good size, easy to clean5
Sturdy shelfStaceyWe purchased two of these for our dining room since we are lacking storage here in Florida. They were easy for one person even to put together and took no time at all to assemble. I was surprised with the quality of the shelf, they turned out very nice!5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is solid wood?

Solid wood is one of our favorite materials and is part of our Scandinavian heritage. It is also a timeless material with many uses. Regardless of the tree species, it is durable, beautiful and renewable. We strive to use this raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste – and we also invest in facilities and logistics so that we can increase the use of recycled wood.
