Tempered glass is 4-5 times stronger and more resistant to breaking than regular glass. In case it would break, it shatters into many granular pieces to reduce the risk of injury.

I Keep buying these! LolCynthiaOne of my favorite IKEA purchases ever. I originally bought 3 bases, 2 solid top cabinets and a glass top for the middle for a breakfast nook was mostly for kitchen storage and a pantry and worked really well. Amazing amount of storage. They looked completely built in where I had them and were gorgeous. It is a higher price than some IKEA furniture but it's real wood and look really nice, especially in a set.* After moving I have a set in the dining room and a set of 3 for my office and we have the sliding door ones with glass cabinets for our music storage and curio area. It kind of unifies the house style and just works anywhere. Makes every room look bigger to me. The one thing I'd improving is keeping the same white color but maybe adding another coat or 2. It's easy to scratch the finish in a move. *It's a five star review because I want them to keep making them! 5

Beautiful cabinet - hinges tricky to installCarriI am very happy with this cabinet. I have it on top of the Havsta base cabinet and it looks great. I found the door hinges to be a little tricky to install as the screws did not easily move through the bracket and into the wood. 4

Exactly What We NeededScottWe went into our local showroom with the intention of buying a different cabinet when we saw this one on display. It was exactly what we were looking for, and now that it's in place in our living room, perfectly serves our need. The quality is good and the size is better than what we had there before. Of particularly positive note is the glass shelves - we installed interior lights about them and the light continues all the way to the bottom - so much better than the cabinet we had before (which is now in use on our covered patio). To top it off, the service provided on the sales floor was fantastic.5
