Miserable assembly experience.RichardThis is no HEMNES replacement. It weighs in 50 pounds heavier for being the same dimensions as the HEMNES. The assembly instructions in the package are not clear at times and lack a magnified view for what direction a part is to be attached or what fastener is to be used. This results in guessing and then disassembly when guessed incorrectly. Also, the instructions that come in the package differ from the instructions that can be downloaded from IKEA. This would have been nice to know as some of the assembly steps have been modified in the downloaded instructions that address some of these issues. Maybe a sticker on the boxes stating “DOWNLOAD THE UPDATED INSTRUCTIONS”. This was by far the most frustrating IKEA assembly I have ever completed.
Also two pieces were broken straight out of the box. The embedded plastic stud/attachments were sheared off with no remnants in the box so most likely packaged without proper inspection. Gone are the metal turn-bolts to tighten joined pieces.
I’m distraughtElenaDecided to purchase an IKEA dresser to replace my Hemnes one that was damaged when moving houses. —Unfortunately the quality of this product for the price was disappointing and I wish I looked at the reviews more closely before buying.
(1) Assembly was very difficult for me personally and it took a whole day. I don’t recall my HEMNES dresser assembly being difficult in this way, the manual is not detailed. (2) Unfortunately, the quality looks and feels cheap. I shop at ikea for an inexpensive alternative, and I would expect this quality for a $100-$200 dresser, not a $300-$400 one. Unfortunately one of the support beams broke during assembly so I won’t be returning this item. Lesson learned, I don’t think I will be purchasing large furniture from here anymore.
Not as good as hemnesDanielThe new hemnes is not the same as the old quality they started using this cheap stain finish. And this dresser is even worse. Very disappointed the old hemnes quality is gone now. IKEA won’t be the same as that was one of the top items.
Great dresser and clear instructionsLoriIt took some time to assemble, but I followed each step in the instruction manual and it came out perfect! Very solid construction so I'm sure it will last a very long time, like our other Ikea furniture.

Bedroom dresserLoriBought this for my daughter to match the nightstand. Works great for her, just takes a while to put together, make sure you really do push down on the dowels or they are not flush. Wish the instructions were just a little more detailed. However, it look really good.

Nowhere near as good as HemnesKaraI bought this while the Hemnes model was out of stock for most of last year and after 6 months of use, I am so disappointed. Assembling it was difficult as the cheaper materials were harder to work with and fragile. The drawers have never aligned properly and the bottom support piece broke the bottom particle board on installation. the bottom peg is now a balancing act and if it slips out of place the unit sags in the middle and the drawers lock up. I've used and loved the Hemnes dressed for years and am so disappointed I couldn't get that instead.

Substantial, solid and stylish!MaureenTask Rabbit assembled the dresser for us and it was great. It's heavy, so getting it upstairs was an ordeal, but the dresser is sturdy and pretty in a classic way. Keeps your clothes tidy!
Assemble guide needs improvement.Noveau Oxie P.One of the worst assembly guide. It’s needs improvement. The paper vs website have some difference guidelines. The paper offers more guidelines but missing important notes, like IKEA CR vs IKEA CL installations that website have.
Worst assembly everCarlosThis thing is a piece of crap. The hardware come in bag all unorganized. The instructions are horrible. It’s such a simple dresser with the worst instructions in the world. I highly recommend skipping this dresser or paying someone to build it. I’ve built so many pieces of furniture in the past and this has been the absolute worst!!!
Solid dresser, some confusion during assembly.MargaretThis dresser was easier to assemble than expected based on other bad reviews. The instructions on this product page did not match the ones that came in the package so I used the latest version, which is the downloadable PDF here.
To save frustration, divide and organize all hardware pieces before starting. There are very similar pieces that are easy to mix up if you're fishing through a mixed bag. I separated left and right drawer slides (labelled with a faint L and R on the black plastic notch) and labelled them with a sticky note so I wasn't grabbing the wrong ones.
Step 13 with the 2 metal supports was unclear whether the hollow end is supposed to face the top or bottom of the dresser since the magnified picture doesn't really match. If you skip to step 20, you'll see the hollow side should be facing the top of the dresser because a bolt needs to go through the hole to secure it.

This is hands-down, the absolute worst piece of furniture I have ever purchased for IKEA! The construction is completely flawed. The instructions lack several key details. I am so angry at how awful this turned out, and now I have to disassemble what I can gather up all of the pieces load them into my car and take them all the way back to the store to get a refund!! I don’t believe I will ever purchase anything from IKEA again after this horrendous experience. And I’ve always loved the furniture I’ve bought and assembled.
