A mattress protector between your sheet and mattress protects from stains and dirt and prolongs the life of your mattress.

The elastic edging all around makes sure the mattress protector stays in place and also protects the sides of your mattress.

The mattress protector is machine-washable at 140°F (Hot), a temperature that kills dust mites.

Not Waterproof ElizabethA familiar story based on other reviewers — my preschooler had a nighttime accident, which went right through several layers of bedding and the supposedly “waterproof” mattress protector. If recent history is any guide IKEA will be “saddened” or “sorry” that the Grusnarv mattress protector is not waterproof, but they won’t correct it unless it’s within 180 days of purchase. Save money and aggravation and don’t buy this. 1

NOT waterproof!KatarinaI bought this “waterproof” mattress protector in 2025 after my old one stopped working after many years. The old one was the earlier version of Grusnarv, and it was great. Not so much this one, sadly. My senior dog had an accident on my bed and the pee went all the way through a duvet cover, a very thick/heavy synthetic down blanket, a bottom sheet, and Grusnarv to dampen our mattress (most expensive Ikea mattress). With all the bedding soaking up so much of the urine, Grusnarv should have been able to easily keep my mattress 100% dry. Nope. And I caught my dog’s accident within 15 min of it happening. Sorry but either I got a defective Grusnarv or this version is a complete piece of junk! Do you want to take the chance? If you do, I highly recommend you conduct a test of it as soon as you get it home while you’re still able to return it.1

I bought two of these a couple weeks ago to layer on my toddler's bed and the first time he peed in the bed it went all the way though the bedsheet, first mattress cover, second bedsheet, second mattress cover, and the mattress itself still got wet too. I also can't return it because I bought it online and it would be too difficult to get to an IKEA location to return it. Frustrating and disappointing. Great Quality at an Affordable Price!NathalieI have used IKEA’s waterproof protectors on our whole family’s beds for 20 years now. They are soft, in other words not “plasticy” feeling while still being dense and definitely water/spillproof. They help with dust mite allergens too, even though they’re not advertised as such. They’re easy to wash and throw in the dryer. Hold up very well! I hope they never discontinue this product because I’ve never found anywhere that sells as good as or better than the IKEA ones!5

This use to be the best for one but i guess they changed something in the material over the years that now it does not hold anything. Because I remember when my niece spilled water on my bed, and I had this protector and it didn't even go through now, with these new ones it goes through. 1
