I bought two of these a couple weeks ago to layer on my toddler's bed and the first time he peed in the bed it went all the way though the bedsheet, first mattress cover, second bedsheet, second mattress cover, and the mattress itself still got wet too. I also can't return it because I bought it online and it would be too difficult to get to an IKEA location to return it. Frustrating and disappointing. Don't buy this if you're looking for something that's actually waterproof.1
Great Quality at an Affordable Price!NathalieI have used IKEA’s waterproof protectors on our whole family’s beds for 20 years now. They are soft, in other words not “plasticy” feeling while still being dense and definitely water/spillproof. They help with dust mite allergens too, even though they’re not advertised as such. They’re easy to wash and throw in the dryer. Hold up very well! I hope they never discontinue this product because I’ve never found anywhere that sells as good as or better than the IKEA ones!5

This use to be the best for one but i guess they changed something in the material over the years that now it does not hold anything. Because I remember when my niece spilled water on my bed, and I had this protector and it didn't even go through now, with these new ones it goes through. 1

Does not hold waterMarshalWhile I generally love all iKea products, this is not one that I support. I have purchased 8 other mattress pads from iKea and they all work well. I just wanted to buy a backup for my 3 year-old twin mattress. Today is the 15th day of having it and he had a little boo boo last night and now I have to buy another mattress and mattress protector. Please spend the additional $7 for the better product, the Lenast which works great!1
