Reviews

perfect sleeperBettyHad it assembled and it’s so easy to open and close. Firm sleeper for guests, makes a perfect couch in our office as well5
Not like the floor modelBrianI did not realize the bottom was not a cushion, but just fabric over a thin layer of padding stapled to a board. The floor model was much more comfortable. The one I got is much too hard to sleep on, though moderately comfortable to sit on. And will be impossible to launder the bottom fabric. Very disappointed.1
functional couch/sleeperIviedelivered directly to door, easy to assemble, easy to fold out, storage under seat for blankets/pillows5
Practical not bad for vegan leatherLucyPractical , fits in well . It was "IKEAish" to put together as one arm was catty whompus . My husband is a decent carpenter and fixed it. Price was right as was shipping top notch5
Easy comfortMarilynThis sofa is so easy to convert to a bed and is so comfortable as both. Assembly was easy, I’m a mature woman in my 70’s and it only took me about 2 1/2 hours to assemble this by myself. The result is a beautiful and practical piece of furniture.5
Well built.BetsyDirections - hard to follow. But we did it. At one point it directions moves onto another piece - but you don’t know it - it’s worth the money and it’s well built and comfortable5
The story about FRIHETENJadineWe bought a 3-seat sofa bed from IKEA in Holland in 2022 for €499 and loved it so much that we purchased the exact same model again in the U.S. in 2025 for $799. But this time, the quality is shockingly worse. The material feels cheap and plasticky, completely different from the durable, comfortable fabric we had before. The seat itself is also far less comfortable. IKEA, what happened? Why change the materials of a product that was already excellent? Even the pillows have lost density? This feels like a downgrade, and I’m very disappointed.2
Son uses as a bed every night. Holds up well. Looks great!AmyThis sofa is turned into a bed/couch daily for the past 4 months. It’s held up well. It’s comfortable for a teenager to sleep on nightly. It’s a firm foam. Definitely needs padding between person sleeping - something to soften & protect the cushions. We use a thick blanket since bed-size products don’t fit this size. Twin duvet covers fit closest. Why doesn’t IKEA make bedding to fit their sofa beds? I’m going to sew a custom mattress pad. Sitting comfort = 7 out of 10 (we’ve sat on a lot of sofas). Bottom cushions are good depth. Cushions extend all the way to the back of my knees (I’m above average height). Back cushions are a good height but feel slightly stiff. I’d add down throw pillows for comfort. This was one of the most comfortable convertible sofas at IKEA (not incl. pull-out sofa beds). The fabric is durable. The arms are cushioned. The style is fantastic.5
10 years in and still in great shapeBethI bought this 10 years ago. Never thought I’d be the one sleeping on it, but things happened and I had to sleep on it for months at a time, so comfy. I added a mattress pad and you’d never know you’re not on a standard bed. I live in a small apartment, with this sofa I alway have room for a guest.5
Well-loved for 10+ yearsLacyI bought this sleeper sofa in '14 or '15 when my kids and I moved into a tiny apartment. With only 2 bedrooms, the kids were at the age where they needed separate rooms, so I decided to make the living room my convertible bedroom in the evening. We found this sofa, and I loved that it was comfortable, functional, and the price point was great (It was much, much more affordable then). I loved sleeping on the sofa in that tiny apartment. It converted into the perfect queen-sized bed, and the storage had been fantastic. It survived with us 3 years in that teeny apartment in CA, moved across country to VA for another 3 years where it became our sofa and guest bed, then finally came to TX where it's been my son's guest bed, nap spot, and gaming seat in his room for nearly 5 years. I wish the material were easier to clean. That's my only complaint. I think in comparison with other sleepers, it's the best. If you take care of it, it will last forever! Best furniture purchase I've ever made!5
UNABLE TO ASSEMBLEBrianDo not purchase under any circumstance! I had this couch delivered and the assembly was going fine until I needed to complete the frame by attaching two L-shaped metal brackets. The pre-drilled holes did not align at all with the hardware forcing you to either give up or drill all new holes. I didn't spend $800 to have a woodworking project and fix IKEA's poor quality.1
Loved for over 5 yearsJenniferWe’ve had this couch as our main living room couch for many years and absolutely love it. It’s been through a move and now a baby and toddler in addition to the many people who have spent the night on it, and it’s held up great. We need a second couch now, so looking at buying another in another color and thought I’d leave a review! My mom frequently sleeps on it when she stays over and she calls it her crib, that’s how much she loves it 😅 we have it in orange! Adds a great pop of color to our otherwise very neutral home. 5
Doesn’t LastLissaI purchased this sofa in blue just shy of five years ago. It gets some light daily use from an adult. These are the reasons I would never recommend this sofa: 1. The fabric pills terribly 2. The seat cushion started sagging after one year and the cover is not removable for washing. 3. The arms don’t stay in place and are getting wobbly. 4. The couch is really deep. Without extra pillows, it’s too deep for my legs and hard to get out of. See #5 for additional comfort issues. 5. A ridge has developed on the front edge of the sofa making it uncomfortable to get up. Feels like a metal bar. 6. The back cushions are becoming so soft or broken down I have to supplement with additional pillows. I love the color and shape of the couch, but otherwise deeply regret the purchase. 2
Fabric its tornAndresIts very confortable but with les than 1 month the Fabric was already torn.1
Comfortable sofaLuisaPerfect sofa, the fabric, color and fit is just what my apartment needed. It’s comfortable to sit on and to sleep on.5
Not the best, not the worst JessicaI have the black faux leather version. Looks sleek, & still looks good after 8 years & 4 dogs. It does start to separate in the middle when you use the bed, but a mattress topper helps. I also think it’s lame that replacement back cushions aren’t available.4
Awful fabric wearRyanIKEA claims to be sustainable but the fabric (upgraded tan) has mostly worn out after 1.5 years; pilling and discoloring... It looks terrible through minimal use and they will not allow it to be returned/replaced. There is no way to clean the main large cushion either. Would not recommend this item. 1
The fabric starts to have fuzzChiragAfter 3 months of usage the fabric starts to have fuzz coming out and the spong inside starts to get soft.1
A year with the sofaAnonymous reviewerAbout a year with the sofa and it creates a big space in the middle when pulling out the bed, like it separates in 2. Very dissapointed3
Did we make the right choice ?StuartPrice wise not too bad, however the quality is not as good as I had hoped. After a few months of NORMAL use, the arms are already loose ! Does not accurately reflect IKEA quality. 4

Material

What is coated fabric?

If you want a leather feel and an easy-care surface, coated fabric is a durable alternative – often at a lower price. We use fabric made of recycled polyester and have begun a transition from fossil-based to renewable material in the coating. Dimethylformamide (DMF) is a solvent that’s common in production, but since 2016 we’re instead using a water-based solvent.
