You can do it!ElmaI was originally afraid of buying this Fjallbo because of the reviews, but i pushed through because it was perfect for my space. But I did it in around 2 hrs! You can do it too! I really recommend using both an electronic screwdriver and a manual, youll need it for tight spaces. With a bit of patience, and a friend to help you out, youll end up with a very beautiful and solid end product. It doesn't wobble, nor is it very loud for me. If you decide to get this, I think its worth it. Good luck!5
LoudEvanFeels solid enough. Assembly was straightforward if somewhat time-consuming. I did have to buy a drill for it, so be aware of that.
Desk feels solid enough. The wood could be higher quality, but you get what you pay for. However, there are some issues that I haven't encountered in a desk before.
First, it's very loud. The relatively thin piece of wood transfers any vibrations to the metal cage in the storage area, which resonates quite loudly. For example, even typing causes the entire desk to loudly vibrate, even though I have a desk mat.
Also, a lot of motion is transferred to my monitor, which means it wobbles as I type. Haven't experienced that before.
Overall, I will probably get rid of it, but if you don't care about these factors, it's a decent product.3
Really not the best. Bring a friend, a pozi-driv screwdriver, a willingness to screw things in upside down in tight spaces, and a desire to work around subtly mis-bent parts. Cute though!AnonymousThe desk itself is nice looking. The wood color is pleasant, the little design details are neat.
It's of thin light metal and thin cheap wood that's subtly tacky and a bit rough. Every little tap is loud, and it's a touch creaky. Some metal parts aren't square, the top and shelf are undersize by 1/4", the top frame has a bow, the door doesn't sit quite right. It's just poor quality.
The instructions are iffy. It often tells you to tighten screws that, because of the warped parts, shouldn't be tightened yet. The desk design makes the wood shelf a real pain - one person needs to hold it down, another must reach under the shelf to put screws in, with little space. Pre-drilled holes would've made it far better, and not having them is inexcusable - and why does Ikea expect people to own an awl?
If you don't own a pozi-driv screwdriver, good luck.
This is the single most irritating item, of any type, that I've assembled. You'll need patience, care, and far more time than you expect.3
I have enjoyed itCameronThe desk was simple to assemble. We have several book shelves in the same design so everything matches wonderfully. It is very sturdy and feels solid. I wish there was an option to flip the cabinet to the other side but that is a very minor complaint. 5
Nice, but defectiveCindyI love the look of the desk, but about a week after I put it together a crack appeared at the edge of the desktop in a knot in the wood. The desk has no warranty and since the crack appeared after the 48 hour defect window, I can't return it or get a refund since I no longer have the receipt. However, it's still serving its purpose so I'll use it until I save the money to get something higher quality somewhere else.3
Deep, good looking deskWilliamMost desks I've had have been too shallow so you can only fit a laptop on them. This one is deep without being too long and so it fits perfectly in my bedroom. There are more steps to assemble this than many other things but it's worth the patience.
The side drawer doubles as a bedside table, there is plenty of room and it doesn't take away too much from the leg space.
I've got the black TERTIAL lamp attached to the side of the desk and it looks great without taking any room from the desk.
Pay the extra $50 for an exponentially better desk, it's 100% worth it.5
Instructions are vague PamAnd the screws coming with the product don’t fit the holes.1
Desk is sturdyJulieI like the desk. One part doesn't fit all the way but is still usable. Tried taking it out and starting over but it didn't work. 4
Room for everythingMillieI love this desk…the look and the capacity. I thought it would be too big but it’s working out for me. It took about two hours to put together, honestly, with my daughter’s help. Unfortunately, we paid attention to the to and bottom of the desk when choosing which side up, but we failed to pay attention too the edges, and the front of my desk now shows a gash I didn’t know was there. Also, I tend to lean on the desk a lot with my elbows to look at my laptop screen, and when I stop, the desk makes a loud metal noise that scares me every time. I think I need to adhere the inside metal piece to the inside shelf so it first flex anymore and make that sound. Otherwise, I love it!!! More expensive than I wanted it to be but everything else in my office is Fjallbo (I was using the smaller desk for about two years), so I had to have it.5
Delightful DeskSheilaSturdy, practical and industrial-looking. I liked the look as soon as I saw this item. The price was right too.5
