Versatile, Comfortable & Great Value LauraWe love our sofa. We originally bought it knowing that we could expand it later. After our recent move, we purchased the chaise to make it larger, and it's great. Everyone who stays over comments on how comfortable the bed is and how easy it is to set up. We’ve also washed the covers many times, and they still look like new.5
Comfy and looks good.JonahJust moved into a new apartment and needed a new couch. This one is pretty comfy and the size is just right, both in the room and for sitting. I will say the cushions are a bit firm but I’m guessing theyll loosen up over time.
Putting the fabric covers on was a real hassle. The fabric was way too tight and ended up ripping on the seams in a few of the corners, for better or for worse. Not a huge deal since no one sees it anyway.4
Cute and Comfy!DanielaI'm surprised to see so many bad reviews. I think this is the perfect apartment couch. It is super comfy and relatively easy to take apart and switch which side the chaise is on. I will say the fabric looks more like a light warm grey than a beige, but personally I love it. Also, the fabric is pretty durable and easy to get stains out of. 5
Moved Twice - Finnala for the Win!KaciI have had this couch for about 4 years now. It was perfect for the holiday family get-togethers with everybody piled on! My arrangement includes the three-seat couch plus chaise.
While this couch does sit a little firm, that is one of the pros for me. I have two kids who have spent their fair share of time jumping on this couch.
I gave 4/5 because the chaise lid does indeed get a little wonky over time. We repaired it once, and will have to do so a second time. It's an okay trade-off for me since overall quality prevents me from having to buy a new couch.
What I love most is that I can recover this as needed. With two cats, this has been helpful. Also, I'm updating to a new color after our second move with this couch...for a fraction of the price that a new couch would cost.
This is a great purchase if you are looking for longevity and styling options! 4
4 Years later, I'm still happy with this couchAmberWe bought this couch 4 years ago because it was what we could afford, we also bought a second cover for it. Huge pro is our cat cant scratch it. We had the light cover at first and it picked up stains but we swapped to the dark gray blue cover and it looks brand new again. The cushions have held up well after years of heavy use. I took one star off because my husband thinks the couch is very uncomfortable. I think its comfortable, its firm, so maybe some won't like that. We had to disassemble the couch to move and put it back together and it wasn't that difficult. So overall I do recommend for the price, and especially if you have cats.4
Cheap material, hard to put together, uncomfortableCarlyI really wanted to like this couch, and I cannot express how immense my disappointment was at the entire process of receiving it. It feels cheap, the instructions were all over the place, it is crooked, the cushions do not look like what we saw, and it's horrifically uncomfortable. I would return it, but I have no way of physically putting this couch in my car to take it back. I cannot believe I am stuck with this couch, and that it was $1,500. Unreal1
I Love This SofaKendra I'm surprised by the negative reviews here because I absolutely love my chaise Finnala. The fabric has been holding up well, the chaise has lots of storage (though it is hard to switch out to the other side), it looks great in my space, it's super roomy, and it's comfortable to sleep on. For the price, I'm very happy.4
chaise section is badly designed and will not last more than a year. don't buy!Alirezachaise section tilts and skews over time (2 years) and you'll end up with a air gap all around it. it is a bad mechanical design (hinges, support, etc.) and there is no workaround, unless they change the design of it.2
Color Looks Blue instead of Black / GrayRashiI really was excited to get my black / gray Finnala but was very disappointed when it ended up looking denim instead. I thought I had to give it a couple of months, but it's been more than 6 months now and the color looks the same. My whole room decor has been thrown off because of this. 2
Great ValueKellyFor the price, I’m very happy. We have two of these. The first one was perfect (bough approx 3 years ago). The second one has a couple of sections where the fabric is looser and the chaise has a little crunch sound to it when you sit down…but for the price, can’t beat it. 5
Very disappointed AnonymousThis couch looked great when I got it, but over time it’s become horrible. Biggest issue is with the version with “attached” chaise lounge. The cushion comes pre-fixed onto the chaise; it’s not a separate cushion. You naturally want to sit in the part of the couch where the chaise meets the other seat. But there’s virtually no padding there - you plop down and your tailbone bangs against the wooden side of the storage compartment. On top of that, the cushion on the chaise is very, very thin - really surprised me that they would cheap out there on a couch this pricey. At this point the cushion is a thin pad. I’ll likely have to replace the couch sooner than later and deal with it by avoiding that spot in the meantime. End of the day - will not purchase anything over $100 from ikea again. No longer reliable.1
Super uncomfortableAndreaI bought this couch because it’s low chemical/no toxic flame retardants. The instructions were fine and it was a breeze to assemble by myself. The cover is beautiful and the low profile fits with our decor. But that’s where the positives end.
You have to disassemble the couch if you want to wash all the covers, like where feet and hands most commonly go. Only the chaise has storage; the remaining sections are wasted space. And the biggest con is that I t’s seriously the most uncomfortable couch I’ve ever sat on. The seats are domed, extra firm and slant towards the back of the couch. They sort of propel you backwards and it’s impossible to sit with a good posture on these. Forget about removing the back cushions for more room to lay down or something. There’s a huge gap from the domed seat where it meets the back. The firmness might be doable if it weren’t for the non-ergonomic shape. It’s a shame the shape of the seats is so poorly designed.2
Very nice for the priceLeslieWith a dog and 2 grandsons I was looking for a reasonably priced sofa with chaise lounge, not an investment piece. I did a lot of comparison shopping before getting the Finnala. I suggest getting it delivered as there are a lot of boxes. Assembly directions are spread between boxes but are clear once you find them all. I put it together myself except for hooking the parts together which required a helper. It is firm but very comfortable, good seat depth, and the grey fabric is really nice; the overall look is clean and modern. It would be very hard to actually wash the cover as you would have to disassemble the piece. Hoping it holds up as well as my previous IKEA sofa.4
Broken within a weekChuckFor how much this costs I would have expected higher quality. The frame is just particle board loosely stapled together. The arm rest broke within a week just from leaning on it.2
Overall great couch!KayleeI bought this couch about a year and a half ago and we have really enjoyed it. My sister visits a few times a year and friends stay the night here and there so far everyone says the pull out bed is very comfortable. It was pretty easy to put together and taking out the bed takes less than 5 minutes including putting sheets on (Queen sheets fit perfect). I love the storage compartment it’s great for the extra sheets, pillows and blankets and holds so much which is great for an apartment. My only complaint is the bottom cushions slide around a lot so I’m always having to push them in and adjust them and the back ones don’t hold their shape very well but overall it’s sturdy, super comfortable and looks very nice!4
I love this couch!JessWent "couch sitting" at IKEA during the pandemic, and after falling in love with this one, I had to wait for it to be available at my store. . . but it was totally worth the wait! It's so sturdy and SO COMFORTABLE (I have the two-cushion-and-a-chaise, and it's honestly comfortable for up to 5 people to sit and watch a movie). The whole chaise full of storage is a super bonus. If you're on the fence, get this couch! Have two friends come over to help you assemble, and it's fun, easy work.5
Nice sofa, but not comfortableAnonymous reviewerNice sofa, but not comfortable as expected.3
An affordable and versatile couch.DanielI really like that it's modular and that I can change up the configuration down the road as I move into different places. I also really like that the covers are washable and changeable which is important with two little kids. The storage area under the chaise seat is a bonus.
It is comfortable and practical. The optional and removeable headrests work well as well.5
Great looking and comfortableCarolynThis is a very comfortable sofa and is good looking. It wasn't too hard to put together, but make sure you have a truck if you want to take this home. It comes in two full flatbed carts.
Love it and am happy with the purchase.5
BEAUTIFUL SOFA!Anonymous reviewerThe Finnala has a beautiful aesthetic,, it looks far more expensive than it costs...
I notice many sharing that the cushions were difficult to put into the covers... the trick I found with that issue is to put the cushions in immediately after opening the plastic wrapped in as they are compressed and if younopen and wait beyond a few hours they already begin to expand, thus harder to put into the covers... and yes, they will appear lumpy initially, but that will subside after a few days and a bit of smoothing out.
I assembled mine alone. I purchased the sofa and chaise combination, and though some steps were a bit difficult, I managed to assemble it just fine in two hours (had to rest after wrestling a bit with connecting the arms and back, mind you 65yo woman).
Overall, I would say that it's a good value for the price and look of it.
The cushions are a bit on the firm side, but that was exactly what I need, and the height is perfect (arthritic/hip replacement, and I'm 5'10 tall). :u1F970:5
