Came infested with spider mitesLaura M.I keep lots of houseplants. I loved this Chamaedorea at first, but sadly after a couple of weeks it started dying. Guess what: it was infested with spider mites. (Because I'd never encountered spider mites before, I had to look them up. Although they can't bite people, they suck plants dry.) For the past few weeks I've been spraying the plant with a mixture of water, dish soap, and essential oils. While that's cut down the mites' numbers, they're still there, and still progressively killing the plant. Fortunately the mites have not yet spread to my other houseplants, so I'm thinking of composting the whole plant before the mites spread. Bummer. Lesson learned: always buy plants from my local nursery.1

Lovely plantCaronI didn’t realize until recently IKEA was selling live plants! This one is just absolutely beautiful...large, full, healthy and excellent value. For the price, it’s much better value than Home Depot or Lowe’s, and it’s doing really well in my home.5
5 years old and still going strongJason ScottI bought this at the Ikea store in Covina, CA. I live in southern California. I planted this in an urn for a shaded patio. This little palm is just beautiful. It loves the dark shady patio corner I have it in and has grown to about three feet tall. It fills in the corner well and looks so elegant. It lives full time outdoors on the covered patio and has done so well. The urn it's in has no drainage hole, so I am careful to just put in enough water where it's not floating in water. Once in a while some of the fronds die, but they are easy and quick to pull out and make the plant look beautiful again. I can't remind people enough that these thrive on LOW LIGHT. I had one of these before and tried to put it in a sunny spot and it just burned. These palms, also known as parlor palms just love a low light setting. I feed mine with the little push in food stakes you buy at the market and it's just green, bushy and lovely on my patio. The cold winters or the warm summers don't seem to bother it. If you live in Southern California you are sure to be able to grow this palm on a deeply shaded patio or indoors in a low light room. You can grow it in a bright room too, just so long as it doesn't get direct sun which will scorch the leaves. Light, filtered through a sheer curtain or a bright room with no direct light would be ideal. It's a beautiful little plant.5
Happy and Hearty Little PlantmandieluckThree of these were purchased at the Atlant IKEA eight months ago. They are are doing incredibly well and have fanned out in their pots from IKEA. While I cannot recall the name of the pots I believe they are 4 3/4 bamboo pots which have a plastic liner/tray inside the bottom of them. I highly recommend the bella palm. I water mine about once a month, fertilizing every other month.5
