Ikea hack!Anonymous reviewerWe had a gap between the two cabinets we installed in the laundry room and Ikea didn't make an open shelf as deep the cabinets we used, so we purchased the color matching panel and manufactured our own shelves. Worked perfect. A little pricey, but we achieved the end look and use we wanted. Note: we didn't use as intended since we cut the panel in shelfing.5

handle with care!BrianI have installed over 200 IKEA kitchens and handled at least 300 of these 36x96 cover panels. They are almost ALWAYS DAMAGED upon arrival. The packaging sucks and the delivery/handling is very careless. Make sure you carefully inspect the panels for damage (corners and edges especially) and do not drag them across the gravel in your garage, or lay them on pebbles with the rest of your kitchen stacked on top... protect them dearly! Also, it's a good idea to seal any cut edge that will contact the floor as this MDF acts like a sponge to anything spilled. When installed right, they look great and stand up well to normal wear and tear. The high gloss Ringhult panels are even better and less susceptible to damage.3

What is fibreboard?

Fiberboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fiberboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are. This determines if we will use them for bed frames, sofa frames, kitchen fronts, wardrobe doors, or something completely different.
