Reviews
Fine, could be betterJonathanSuper easy to assemble but I wish there was a little more solid wood. I know it's IKEA, but still. The drawers also feel a bit flimsy. My biggest grip is that the tolerances are not the best. Everything was going smoothly until I put the side panels on and realized there was an inch-wide gap on both sides at the back. It's not super noticeable but there was no way to close it. Overall I wish I had spent a bit more elsewhere.3
$1000 vs. $5000IreneI’ve searched 4 yrs. for living room cabs. Debated whether to spend $5000 on R&B cabs but never pulled trigger. Looked at IKEA Besta series many times. Not sold on aesthetics. Enter in the Boastad unit. Bought 2 units to place side by side. Design & engineering of this unit is way beyond any other IKEA pc. we’ve bought. It’s a solid piece of furniture. Comes in 4 heavy boxes. Assembly not easy for someone w/no building experience. My husband, a contractor, was impressed with small details such as: “shims” to place on the back panel to hold the panel securely in place; feet of metal base have a screw-like mechanism to level unit; drawers are soft-close; depth of unit is 20.5” vs. 16” depth of other units. Happy with choice we made to spend $1000 vs. $5000. Of course, not comparing apples to apples in quality, but nevertheless, this piece far exceeds our expectations. For my husband to approve of the quality & for both of us to agree on the purchase was also a miracle in itself. 5
Balancing the negative review- a great piece worth buying!TiffanySo I can imagine the frustration of the reviewer who had missing hardware. I didn’t have a similar experience; I received mine delivered in four large, heavy boxes, and after about an hour and a half of two-person assembly, this sideboard punches far above its weight class. I personally think it’s much better quality than an “average” ikea piece- dramatically less flimsy and with smooth operating glides for the folding doors. The soft close drawers function well and the whole package looks and feels much more expensive than it is.
We bought this initially as a temporary solution pending some custom millwork but I’ll be sad to see it go and I’m trying to tuck it somewhere else in the house to keep it5
